which servos are better for the TLT application? high torque, or high speed, or better to spend the coin to get one that does both?

For a crawler you want the highest torque you can get, speed is really not an issue. If you are on a tight budget, the HiTec 645MG isn't bad for about $40 (Tammies may still have them on sale for $32). As with anything else, you get what you pay for, but the next step up is around $100.
