Same for WA as well, however (thankfully) rarely enforced. Anything 10K and above, REGARDLESS of whats on it or what your towing it with you need a CDL Class A for Washington State, I think Oregon and CA. And the BS that comes with a Class A. There are some exceptions for large travel-trailers, but and open deck trailer, nope. I've also heard* (*you can do your own research) that if your TRUCK is a flat-bed truck, regardless of size, its considered a Commercial Vehicle in CA they they expect to see a all the Commercial DOT tags etc. Technically, as well, if your rig is sponsored, and your going to COMPETE in KOH, you're now "for profit" and a commercial carrier, so you have to meet to commercial regs and (probably) stop at the scales. Again, you may or may not get hassled, but since KOH is a known, high-profile event, CHP *may* be on the extra look out. The suggestion there was to take the skins off on the trip, or cover them up or something. This is hear-say based on what I read after last years KOH and some of the hassling spectators and competitors got. Others had no issues. Take it for what its worth, I'd hate to see CHP, or even OSP or WSP be money-hungry a-holes just cause they know a big event is going on. Wish I was going.... wish I had a running rig together to go with :booo:
