I just completed an upgrade to a 350. I removed a good 305. It has about 20k on a shop rebuild, 10k of it by me. After moving up to 36" tires and TBI it just didn't have the torque for highway driving.
1983 5.0l (305) truck engine

Summit K1102 cam with high pressure springs
This cam acts as an RV cam in a 305 bringing
torque and horsepower lower in the RPM range
Edlebrock Performer manifold
100 amp alternator
The engine was using TBI which was moved to my new engine.
It will need a carb and distributor, or EFI. It used to run great with
a Quadrajet, much stronger than a TBI.
