I used the factory open carrier in a high pinion front diffs is the reason it is missing, everything is in good shape, all ring gear bolts, lock tabs, etc is there,

Tech tip of the day: factory 4.88 3rds can only use factory 4.88 toyota gears, because the pinion offset is different than every other toyota 3rd. Instead of having a carrier break like Dana axles, toyota cast an entirely different 3rd for their 4.88 gears.

Factory 4.88 gears are pretty common in 90s 4runners

Nope not this year, I'll most likely be in the shop putting in a replacement motor
