Greetings,

As our grant application timeline for the next cycle has nearly come to a close, I would like to try one last time to solicit written grant support in the form of letters. We currently have support letters from the City of Sultan, Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce, Mt View Diner, Pacific Northwest 4 Wheel Drive Association, and multiple individuals. Please share this email with your contacts so we are able to show that the high level of support for our projects represents the high level of need!

If you would like to write a letter of support, please be sure to include the RCO Project Number and Project Names. Letters can be sent no later than September 26th electronically to [email protected] or via mail to: Attn: David Way; Northwest Region DNR, 919 N Township Rd; Sedro-Woolley, WA; 98284.

Below is a brief description of the two NOVA (Nonhighway and Off-Road Vehicle Activity) Grants in application:

RCO Project # 12-1274 Reiter Motorcycle and ATV Trail Construction
This project is a continuation of developing a sustainable motorized trail system in the forest as identified in the 2010 Reiter Forest Foothills Recreation Plan. The Reiter plan was developed in collaboration with user stakeholder groups and the general public. These trails will link with and expand the first round of trail construction already completed at Reiter. This project is anticipated to construct over four miles of trail, completing all of the Phase 1 motorcycle and ATV trails planned and beginning a portion of the Phase 2 trails. This project will also consist of one bridge over an unnamed stream.

The Project Budget is:
General Site Improvements $2,000
Permits $5,000
Trails and Bridge $490,000
Architecture and Engineering $88,200
Total $585,200

RCO Project #12-1556 Reiter 4x4 Trail Construction
The Department of Natural Resources will use this grant to design and construct two 4x4 challenge areas and approximately four miles of new 4x4 technical trails in Reiter Foothills Forest. The project site is Reiter Foothills Forest Recreation Area located just north of State Route Highway 2 (west of Stevens Pass) and just east of the town of Gold Bar. The trails and challenge areas will be designed for 4x4 use and will link with and expand the first round of trail construction already completed in the 4x4 area of the trail system. The overall goal of this project is to address the needs of the 4x4 off-road vehicle recreation public for the north Puget Sound region of the state. This project is a continuation of developing the sustainable motorized trail system in the forest as identified in the 2010 Reiter Forest Foothills Recreation Plan. The Reiter plan was developed in collaboration with user stakeholder groups and the general public.

The Project Budget is:
General Site Improvements $2,000
Permits $6,000
Trails $491,250
Architecture and Engineering $87,525
Total $586,775

Thank You!
