With a strong small block a single mixer is going to run out of air and fuel around 325 hp or 5200 rpm, whichever comes first. With a larger engine or high flow heads and cam the rpm goes down. The restriction in the mixer is for changing the air/fuel ratio to run methane(natural gas) and will only cause you to use more fuel than needed. With higher hp engines and/or large engines dual mixers are needed to properly feed enough fuel and air to make it run. With a dual mixer setup you can feed up to 650 hp easily. The photo is a dual mixer setup on a 383 stroker that dynoed at 585 hp with a killer torque curve of over 500 ft.lbs starting around 1500 rpm. Another issue you might want to check is if running a vacuum lockoff valve make sure the vacuum hose is not connected to manifold vacuum. It should be connected to the mixer or any port above the throttle blades which is ported vacuum. Manifold vacuum at WOT is zero so the lockoff valve will close and the engine run out of fuel as it will suck everything out of the vaporizer. Port vacuum never drops to zero. I have been in the conversion business for over 21 years so if I can help let me know. We have the parts to upgrade your setup to dual mixers and vaporizers so you can keep using what you have. Sincerely, Buddy Gamel Precision Sales & Service, Inc. 451 64th Place South Birmingham, Ala. 35212 877-403-7827, shop 205-837-8871, cell 205-591-2267, fax bgamel@alternatefuel.com bgamel@workhorseservice.com www.alternatefuel.com www.workhorseservice.com
