So... I have been without a decent place to work on my rig for a long time. The tent-shacks can only go so far, and a dirt/gravel floor just blows chunks!!! :puke: it makes even the simplest of tasks a challenge!!! So, I have come to some choices. Choice #1... go through all the BS permitting problems, surveys, wetland specialists (since I have a creek AND a pond through my property), environmental impact studies (because of the above) and build myself a nice new shop... OR Choice #2... Convert my 30' x 40' barn (that is just being used for storage currently) into a shop... this choice gives me two floors of space (the lofts) which the bottom of the loft is about 13-14 feet up and another 13-14 feet to the rooftop.. ample space for item storage and spare parts!! :cheer: With Choice #2 I do not have to deal with all of the BS permitting, since it is an existing structure... I will however need to reside the whole barn, remove all of the old original barn noards and replace with some metal siding... then I can sell the barn boards to recoop some of the $$ since they sell for a decent price... I am leaning towards option #2 and will be probably starting on the project real soon... It will be a slow process... hmm kind of like my jeep (hush Kev!!) :haha: But it would be nice to have a decent place to actually put my bender and tools in with room to work... sadly, I think the most expensive part is going to be running power properly to the darn thing... that heavy gauge wire is EXPENSIVE!!!!!! I figure that since I live on 20 acres, with partial woods... the only animal i have here is my mom's horse, and it don't like going up into the barn because it is too far away from the neighbor's horses, so I may as well put it to use... and the elk don't use the barn, they just like to graze in the fields and hide in the woods... so why not... any advice I should consider into the transformation???
