Looking for cheap (2000 or less) toy that is 4x4. Make doesn't matter but would obviously rather have straight axle. MUST be somewhat road worthy. Not looking for something to drive every where but needs to be able to make it to the trails no problem. Body damage doesn't matter. Just needs to run good and have head lights brake lights and windshield.

Post up what you have! The closer to bham the better.

Re: WTB Cheap 4x4 vehicle

Already have a ram charger and cj is out of my price range

Bought a 85 Toyota pickup today from the original owner for 1300!

Anybody got some lift springs for one :eat:

Bastard pac it. Use Dodge Dakota give u bout a 4 Inc lift

Yea I've been wanting to find out what factory leaf springs from other vehicles would work. Been searching but can't find anything. What year dodges and for the front or the rear?

Pictures! Put the rears up front with a coupla extra leaves and boomerange shackles, 63" chevys in the rear with ruff stuff brackets, U-bolt flips, 12" billys on ford towers, high steer and IFS box and on and on and on... :woot:

I'll post some pics up as soon as I take some. And these toyotas are crazy, never seen so much stuff you can do with other factory vehicles parts.

Yep, basically you need an IFS truck too, to build up a Toyota - You need a IFS steering box (for crossover steering), 2nd tcase (for doubler), front wheel hubs (for extra width), rear axle (extra width)

Or you can take a BONE STOCK 85 model, put 4.7 gears in the case, drop in locker in the front, weld the rear, and a set of 33/34" tires and do 90% of the trails out there and still drive on the road.

Yeah, it'll ride rough as ****, and not flex, but it'll crawl and "GO" with most rigs.

Here's my buddy's truck that we just recently took apart to build another, it's just as described above, and did really well.

Yea my plan is to keep it simple and steetable. Gets old quick trailering everywhere. Plan to bob it as much as possible, cross over steering, lockers and 35's. Did not know about the ifs hubs making it wider. I will have to look into that.

I will post a pic tonight. Just picked it up last night. Drove it to work today ;D
