90's throw back....Manche build

Is there a cover or something for the fuse block? I feel like fuses aimed upwards and not covered + mud/rain/dew= PITA. I'm sure you have some kind of crazy elaborate, 19 piece, water shield for it though.

Yea, I'm definitely not used to people installing windshields around here.... That's too logical. :****:

Right on! I'm a sucker for ease of access for trouble shooting wiring issues. I have always kept fuses exposed for that reason.

Are you soldering and heat shrinking or just using heat shrink butt connectors? Seems like a fella with your patience is going to wire for the long term. I'd have to do something I haven't done in 13 years and burn one to have that kind of concentration. :smoke: :****: Bravo, sir. Bravo.

They're will likely be a little of both. I have a really good friend who always assists with the wiring; he has 20 years of automotive and audio custom wiring experience. He is a solder- heat shrink kinda dude. Im a little lax with solder, but I love all the new butts and terminals that crimp/solder/ heat shrink, be it they cost $1 a piece. My strength is wiring management. I'll have a few pics later today.

Good progress was made yesterday.

Plumbing
-steering 90%, two lines left for cooler/ reservoir; stainless hardline, hydraulic hose
- brakes done; ni/cu hardline and flex
-water pump heater ports tapped for -AN fittings

Wiring
- chassis back half wired for rear lights
- taillight panel wired
- header panel cut down and wired
- gauge pod pre wired, ready for cannon/weatherpack plug

I thoroughly enjoy the entire build process and (for the last 10 years or so) primarily work alone for the entirety of a build. Its really nice to have friends that share a passion to come and pitch in on occasions like these. I think we all had high aspirations to get done yesterday, but what we didn't finish, we made up for with a great day of hanging together and enjoying ourselves.

Huge shout out to Scott @ol'Jeeps for working late with me and then making a 2 hour trek back home. Also to my old pal @jeepin-jason, for being here for wiring, his help is always a stress reliever for me; there are no worries when he's on the job, never second guessed. My pal Chip, who drove 2 hours to just be here for anything we needed, he helped all of us. And last but certainly not least, @Paul, who also drove 2 hours, for his hands in all areas, especially for serving us all with a kick ass lunch and providing us his knack for entertainment and story telling...

And for those that have had concerns about the foot room/driver comfort; ask Scott... he spent about 4 hours in the driver's seat while the truck was suspended 4 feet of the ground on the lift, plumbing stainless steel steering hard lines. While I did the cutting, bending, flaring, he was patiently reclined there, constantly attaching and re-attaching said lines till we had it just perfect!

Thanks my friends!

Btw; Scott and Jason even powered on without me while I was gone for 3 hours attending a wedding of a close family member.... That's dedication, thanks again guys!

Pics up soon.

Matt

Hey, can you post a pic of how you did your latches for your tube doors or whatever that little catch is for? I'm making a set for the jeep and am looking for inspiration. It's a very good possibility that you already posted that. But, I think it's lost somewhere in the awesomeness

Plumbing, (and the steering is now complete.) Fuel and trans cooler left to do, ran out of -6 unions.

Steering ram lines are same length, flex lines down the links for brakes are the same length, spares already here as well. Spare for ram line I will use for differential vent hose on rear.

Swagloc fittings?
37° flare for -AN/JIC. Tube sleeve and nut with couplers or bulkhead couplers. Stainless tubing is 3/8 .035 wall, Ni/Cu line is 3/16.

Benders and flaring tool like these. Flare from Eastwood, with the 37 die set.

Fuel plumbed, including a stainless vent system.

Radiator and associated cooling lines done; heater ports and steam lines to expansion tank.

And one of my most favorite deliveries, not just because of where they're from, but it signifies that the end is near. Due to the repeat service they hooked me up with some swag and gave me the "rock and roll" clear coat treatment... pure sexiness ... for now - lol.

Btw, the fourth shaft is a universal long slip spare for front and rear.

Mo...

Plumbing is done - Yet to tag the mounts to the chassis and final tighten.

Wiring strung out to its general vicinity. It's going to be a breeze with the kwik wire harness and switches. @jeepn-jason is coming back out Sunday... she will fire Sunday evening.

Dash completely wired out of the box and into the chassis harness with a couple weather packs, gps antenna mounted and wired.
