Okay guys so in the next few months I will be doing a complete chasis swap, Trans swap , and build up. But I am stuck as to what gearing to go with in my axles so I figured id reach out to yall and pick your brain. So my drive train will be as follows

ENGINE: LS1 5.7 (400 HP)

TRANSMISSION: TH350 (2400 STALL)

TRANSFER CASE: DANA 300 ( 4:1)

DANA 60 FRONT: CURRENTLY 456

14 BOLT REAR: CURRENTLY 456

Im not planning on doing any Bobby Tanner Hill shooting but would like to have the best set up for crawling and trail riding with a minor case of skinny pedal. so whats your thoughts?

Honestly with a 60, 4.56 is as low as you want to go for maximum strength, especially a lp front. The pinion starts getting tiny after that. It and a 4 to 1 case are about perfect for crawling and the occasional mashing in the SE in my opinion

4.88s
LP 60 / 14 bolt
5.7 V8 250hp?
TF727 auto
Atlas 4.3
43s

I thought the 4.1 d300 I had before was nice....but once it junked the front output the 4.3 atlas gave me a great creeping 1st....powerful 2nd....Trail riding 3rd gear.

Very happy with the combo.

I like the setup so far.
I have even been able to hang with Tony the couple times we have wheeled with him. ;D

SOO my understanding is that for the strongest stay with the 4.56 gears but 4.88 would be the perfect setup? I don't know that il change gears just to go to 4.88 ratio.

I wouldn't spend that kind of money to go from 4.56 to 4.88 either

I think the gearing is good.

I'm running 4.88 w/C6 and STAK 3spd with 44 TSLs. I run in 3.0:1 and it does good.

I was gonna ask you if you lost anything going from manual to C6. Whatcha think so far?

Yeager your jeep's gearing is real close to mine. I love the gearing in mine. I can crawl in first or stall it up in 2nd to get a little more wheel speed. For what a gear swap is going to cost you. You could probably sell your 300 and use the gearing money to nearly pay for new atlas. If you want to change you gearing.
