Your Welcome

Part of the rational for this is that contrary to what I expected, the housing has been the only issue I've had with the axle. The 30 spline Warn shafts and the FF setup have been great, except I broke the hubs while stuck *hard* between two trees. I could get flanges and be good for years on 36's.

warn drive flange, barley used, 30 spline. $50 firm. eric 206 349-3350

Well anyway, I did it. I used a Chevy front housing with 3" x 3/8" wall tube. I hacked off the long side and spliced it on the short side. Since I am at 55", I didn't need any other tube. I decided the tube was plenty beefy and didn't do any sort of trussing. I stuck my old bearing ends on and put the Detroit and 4.56's and the Warn FF setup right back in/on there.

I had a set of alignment pucks made up (thanks TB-F) and found a hunk of 1.25" round bar, and did all the work myself, yay.

I am using the inner seals, and vented the tubes (kinda weird, three breather hoses, whatever) so I won't have gear oil seeping into the wheel bearings anymore.

I toasted another set of Warn lockouts and finally upgraded to flanges/slugs. Other than that, no problems so far.

Dana 44's are:rb::rb::rb: Complete waste of time and money. If you wheel with a troop of girl scouts it might be the axle of your choice. I ordered a currie 9/44 hybrid 5 years ago and have broken everything except the diff of course. Chromo 44 inner axles just break, don't matter if you are running bobby's 300m u joints or CTM's. :fawkdancesmiley:
