reiter work party feb 13th

The road back to the May Creek Crossing from the Main Pit has had some drainage work done on the large puddles in the road, but some water still exists in most of them. So Harold your truck would do fine there.

I don't suppose you have recent pictures, do you? Last time I was up there, I had a 86 Toyota with larger tires. Water still hit just over the door jam. Yep, sure made sure i didn't open any doors...

Recent, like when you went up there last week?

No Photos!! That road is not the kind of thing that makes me take photos, but I will tell you I would have no problem about driving my PT Cruiser back to the May Creek crossing based upon the condition it was in the last two times I have been back there. Last time was the Last Work Party 4xrick set up.

Then I shall endeavor to be there Saturday morning. Hopefully, I can drag another body with me.

There are plenty of places to hide bodies still, right?

I didn't see it mentioned but, David told us if we get a decent turnout we will also be doing work on some of the other trail restoration areas and we will need rigs with winches for some of that.

Hello all!

Thanks again for all your support on this one! I think we are covered for a mini excavator, loaders, quads with trailers, and pick ups for wood chips. Phew..

I anticipate a lot of people turning out for this, since the notice went out to the whole Reiter contact email list. Here is the game plan in a nut shell:
1. Quads with trailers will haul wood chips in through Gold Bar Nature Trails to the North side of May Creek. I'm trying to get a mini excavator to help this group move logs around and stuff. The GBNT group also has some cotton wood starts that we can plant on the rehabilitated stream bank.
2. Trucks haul wood chip to the south side of May Creek from the main parking area. (I think the puddles are almost dry so it shouldn't be much of an issue on clearance) This group will also need 2-3 4x4s with winches to move logs and other debris into place.
3. If we have more people than we can handle at these two areas, then I would like to start at May Creek and have 4x4s and people start pulling all down dead woody stuff into the old trail surfaces working back towards the gravel parking area. (Yes, this is future non motorized trail areas in respect to the "plan". Motorized users restoring non-motorized areas will be a positive spin on the situation out there)

Thanks again. Hope to see a lot of you all out there!

Oh yeh. For number 3 above, we will need additional rigs with winches. I don't want everybody to bring out their wheeler. Think about 10 total. You guys can sort it out, but remember, not all of you!

I'm good for this. Have truck, 4x4, and a winch that needs breaking in! Not breaking. Lower Parking lot? I'll be the guy with the really dirty black Dakota.

(Why wash it? It'll just get dirty again)

9:30 to 3 p.m. I'll have to sleep in that day....

Ok will put the cable back on the winch for this one.

I will be there with my 4runner with winch.

Anyone have a snatch block thats a little beat for use with cable?

So how many people are going to show?

I will be there with a friend riding along.

so 2 people.

I will be there along with 2 other FJ guys and it sounds like a couple others possibly. I'm bringing a small trailer to haul chips and have a winch if needed.

I'll be there, if only to meet some new faces. :D

Then I can be dragged along to haul chips and drag people out of mud holes...

Should I bring my little flatbed trailer?

I think we need a count of rigs with winches on them...I might load up and head out if needed. Other wise it will be me in the pickup.

We might not get the turnout like the last one since there are so many conflicting events the same day. Our first priority is getting the wood chips out. So likely 2 or 3 winches would be more than enough especially since even with a winch it is helpful to have one or two extra hands with finding and hooking blowdowns.

great I will be an extr pair of gloves

if it changes someone can let me know and I will load the pile.
