That would be DNR's Commisioner of public Lands Peter Goldmark. I had hoped that your interaction with him might have been more positive but not really surprised either. :(

Below is his "Bio" from his website.


Peter Goldmark began his education in a one-room schoolhouse at Duley Lake near Okanogan, Washington. He graduated from Okanogan High School in Okanogan and in 1967 received a degree from Haverford College near Philadelphia. After receiving his Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of California at Berkeley in 1971, he traveled to Harvard University for a postdoctoral fellowship in neurobiology. Following his marriage in 1972, he moved back to Okanogan with his wife, Georgia. Together, they raised their five children on the family ranch. Sadly, Georgia succumbed to cancer in 2003.
Goldmark has had a lifelong involvement with agriculture, science, education, and public service. Included among his public service positions are the following:


Director of Agriculture for State of Washington, appointed by Governor Lowry in 1993
Chairman of the Governor's Council on Agriculture and the Environment in 1994-1996
Governor's Council for a Sustainable Washington in 2002-2003
Governor's Council on Biodiversity in 2004-2005
Founding board member and past Chairman of the Board of Farming and the Environment, a unique coalition of farmers, ranchers, and conservationists founded in 1999
Board of Regents of Washington State University, 1996-2005; President of the Board in 1999-2000
Board of the Washington State University-University of Washington Policy Consensus Center, 2003-2008
Okanogan School Board, 1998-2005
Wildland firefighter, Okanogan County, Fire District No. 8 - 30+ years
Commissioner of Public Lands, 2009 to present


Goldmark maintains a small scientific research facility at his ranch and has published scientific articles in national and international journals. He currently maintains a wheat-breeding program at his facility and has recently released new varieties for Washington wheat farmers.

In 2008, Goldmark led a successful race for Commissioner of Public Lands in Washington State. He is remarried and lives in Olympia with his wife, Wendy.
 
In my opinion i would guess him as a pecker head also...doesn't he know how much money is generated by all of us individually as off roaders that goes to the local community/ local busnesess/ state/ and the money that he spends on his fun from our pockets....just ask old christy our governer she spent our money we ( As OHVers ) payed in to have our trails maintained for her purposes...not our purposes.....I think it's about time to vote all these officials ( our governer/ mr. goldmark / patty murray/ Maria Cantwell) all out of office.:mad::mad::mad:

Exactly! When you vote make sure the people you vote for care about ORV recreation.

This is a good place to start, Look at who the Sierra Club endorses and vote for ANYONE else and it will be an improvement. :awesomework:

I never really looked at the local stuff when voting in the past as I never really saw why it mattered before. Now I went through each name on my ballot and looked at their websites and who endorsed them and what they thought of certain issues. There is a District 1 rep who is a mountain biker, cave diver and NRA member..... That sounds more like someone I want on our side than the guy who was a NOAA scientist.

I all ready do this but the dumb ass ***** whipped people in this state keep voting them back in.

They were in a 12 person van that traveled from Olympia. So they are anti-motorized recreation but are perfectly okay with the use a motorized vehicle to get to wherever they like to recreate without motors?

The people in the van were DNR from Olympia and Sedro Wooley including the main guy...Goldmark.

The Eco-Hikers all drive Subarus don't ya know...:haha:
 
I really don't think it matters who is voted in...

Whatever their intentions are, they change as soon as they start getting threatened by the large groups that are against us...

We need to find ways of pressuring who ever is in office... The same way the other groups do...

The problem is THEY have paid lobbyists and lawyers on staff. What does WOW have? All we can do is hope that the elected official keeps from being swayed. Unless WOW and PNW start lobbying heavily.

That's why WOW supports WOHVA... If we have more wheelers involved with WOHVA we may have resources available there that can lobby for us... I'm not saying that we should depend on them only, but that is another avenue that we can use to be heard in Olympia... WOHVA actually lobbies for OVR use at the capital...

Alright someone is just string the pot here. This happened a year ago and now it is coming up.
Everything is going on target. There is some bumps, but things are moving forward

Neil all you are doing is splitting bull****. You have a meeting to prepare for in a couple days and I think I would focus my energies on that and make sure you have all the right answers for that

the 4x4 community has been working great with DNR and we need to keep our positive attitude. It
