So what was the common setup for an old skool jeeper back in the 70's?

I recall guys running around on 31's and maybe 32's back then but my memory is iffy from that era...

I bought my first rig was mid 80s. When I got it, a CJ5, it had 31 Big O's mud tyre. Had a 304, T15 3spd, dana 20, AMC 20 rear, Dana 30 front no lift, 3.54 gears.

In 1973 my dad had a F-250 highboy with 33x12 mud tires, Power-lok in the back, winch on the front and went wheeling with the Edgewood Hill Willys. It had open headers and my mom drove it to high school.
:awesomework:

In 1978 he bought a brand new Bronco, put on a 4" lift, 33x12.5" Wildcountrys, Bob Evenson found him a 5 lug Dana 60 rear and I think JW put Power-loks in both axles. They did alot of snow wheeling around Greenwater.

Stole this from mumblewood. he has a lot more here http://insanityfab.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=90&start=40 or maybe he will post some up. I think this pic is a good example.

Grandparents and great-grand parents both had late 60's, early 70's Chevy 3/4 tons in the 70's. On ~32" tires with splitwheels:D

Seen pictures of my grand-grandpa in a 1930-1940's 4wd Studebacker (maybe?) Wagon during the 40-50's. He was hunting in the Cle Elum area.

I don't think thats a keg. and if it was it would be shook to **** and nearly worthless when you tap it

Like Pokey said back then there weren't so many laws and the ones they did have probably weren't enforced......I'de probably drink a beer or two back then.

My dad still has his old flatty that he raced PNW 4cyl class with back in the late 70's.

153 chev, 4 speed, dana 20 I think, had a D25 front and tapered axle 44 rear on 28" re-caps up until a few years ago when we swapped a 30 into the front, sprung it over and set it on some 31" swampers. Been wheeled one time since then and then it got stuffed back in the shop.

I need to scan all the old Naches and Elbe pics he has some time, bunch of PNW4WDA race pics too. Used to run with a club called the Sundowners.
