The start of this failure had begun in the vehicle selection phase of ownership.

Do you really love Toyotas soooo much, that you cannot see that all manufactures have restraints on the capabilities of their vehicles? I can distinctly remember wheeling the Rubicon trail in 1993, and coming across a group of FJs that were replacing 3rds on the trail. Couldn't figure out WHY anyone would bring a complete third member with them, but it was a common thing to do, back then. And EVERY toyota I came across had spare birfields carried. Yet no CJ5s, running stock D30s, bothered to carry extra axles. After all, it was tough to break a D30 shaft running 31s or 33s.

A Dana 30 is actually a pretty strong axle for what it is. It'll run 35"s comfortably without to much problem if you were smart.

My dad went up to Manastash a few weeks ago, and came back with this. So i tore it apart to find it had grenaded. I asked him when the last time he rebuilt this thing.....he said "uhhhhhhhh, what year was your fifth birthday?" haha so i have to stay, not bad. It was a CJ5 Dana 30.

The reason you couldn't figure out why anyone would carry a spare third is...... you can't with a pos jeep. I have had jeeps and yota's, and don't want another jeep because jeep guys are haters. D-30s are no where near as strong as a mini truck axle. Maybe the fj guys were dummies and had them welded?

damn i just wanted to show some broken parts.......Never thought this would lead to a Yota and Jeep debate, but i guess i should have assumed since this is NWW.
