Poll- MTR's or km2 ?

Hardline Crawlers - Rock Bouncer Builds, Tech & Off-Road Trail Talk

km2's more street friendly, mtrk's more off-road friendly. heard about the mtrks bubbling the inner sidewall when aired down low.

For what? If you're shopping for a tire for your Super Duty, put KM2's on it. If you want the best all around tire for your WHEELING rig, the MTR's kick ass.

The only sidewall issues I've heard about Joe are extremely low pressures (2-3psi) and extended driving on roads, etc. where they develop lots of heat. I've run mine in the snow for a couple years now with no issues at low single digit pressures.

Why only the inner sidewall? Doesn't make sense...ANY tire run at low pressures and extended driving will be susceptable to sidewall damage/bubbling...
I've had no personal experience with either, but do have friends that have each... I like the overall performance of the MTR Kevlars better from what I've seen...

Not sure if stone is on here but I know he had that problem along with a few other jeepers. I like them personally and would still choose them over the bfg's.

Like Avanteone said, this was due to low pressures from snow wheeling. which happens to any radial tire over a certain amount of time. some quicker than others.

I had the KM2s on my 4runner for a short period and did not like them, they were terrible in the snow. Just my .02

You didn't let enough air out. Mine are great in the snow at around 3-5 psi. I haven't had the new MTRs but I did have two sets of the old ones and I would get the KM2s any day over them. Hear nothing but good things about the new kevlar MTRs though.

i have a thing for the km2...I have them on my jeep and soon to be on my old ford...I had them on my superduty...my cj7...and im going to buy a set for my wifes FJ......I feel that they work pretty good in the snow ....

Both are good tires. I'm getting off the BFG bandwagon and going to the otherside. Goodyears are made in America if that's a determining factor for you.

I've got the Km2's on the Soopaduty and the Cherocar they work good at everything I've thrown at them so far. Can't comment on the Mtr as I don't own em.

I killed 7...

...seven KM2s on my rig in under a year. Thanks to Discount Tire's excellent replacement "certs" I was able to sell three brand new never mounted tires and one at 95% tread.

The last time I ran the KM2s I killed three on Rhinoland and Backdoor. Drove through the Rock Garden and back to the trailer with two flats and a third dead KM2 in the back.

If you go KM2 make sure you have a good lug wrench and a couple spares. Get the "road hazard" warranty, you'll use it. No personal experience with MTRs but they would be my choice.

i have not run the mtr,but have been a bfg fan.My km2 have been on my jeep a couple of years and seem to get worse traction as time goes by.there is still over 60% of thread left.i don't like how they preform in the snow.

If you get km2 make sure you have them siped.

don't think i would ever buy them again for my jeep.

I have MTR's but have not used them in the snow yet, my daughter has BFG's and they work awesome in the snow at around 7-8 lbs. They have not punctured one yet. We will see how the MTR's work this winter. plus when I bought them they were 20.00 per tire cheaper then had a 20.00 per tire rebate.

Thanks for the input, I think I'm going with MTR's

What size you looking for? I have many in stock. Check us out in Vendor section, Auburn Car Repair & Offroad.

And fwiw, I'm not against BFG's, nor am I necessarily brand loyal to anything. I buy made in the U.S. when I can, and pick the best tire for the application... so BFG All Terrain's on my tow rig, and Goodyear MT/R Kevla's on my wheeler.

I'm with ya regarding the KM2's...I say we protest! "BRING BACK THE KM's!!!!!!":redneck:

You're smoking crack, on all three counts.

The KM2 is WAY better of a tire IN IT's ELEMENT, at what BFG designed it for.... tow rig, DD, light truck duty. You think any of these companies spend the money on tires to R&D for what 1% of their buyers use the tires for? They design it for what works best for the million truck owners are going to do, not that the 1000 wheelers are gonna do.
