I'm building a custom driveline for a street truck and need to get it balanced. I would like to take it to a shop in the north end, like north of Everett. Drive lines NW want a half million dollars to do this job so F those guys. Anyone else know a shop or a guy that can do it? Total shaft length is around 75".

You won't go wrong. I was really happy with the CV driveline he made for my rig.
 
75" seems really long for a single shaft. How big a shaft is it and HP? We've run into vibration issues that WEREN'T balance, but because the whole shaft was "jump roping" due to being so long.
 
That should be taken into consideration when building a longer shaft---the right combo of tube thickness/diameter can mitigate it though. I've seen some crazy long stuff on his balancer, and if it 'jump ropes', the balancer will pick it up...He'd know right away if nick's shaft is the wrong thickness/diameter/length! :haha:
 
Ill be installing 66" of 3.5" tube. Its .125" wall thick between the end yokes.

Its going in a 400hp cummins

Ill be sure Ritch inspects my shaft before it makes it to the cummins.

Nic, Dodge does make factory one piece drivelines that are aluminum. Assuming 3rd gen?

700-800 for a driveline is dumb.

I got $190 into this thing so far.... we will see if it works, I dont see why it wont.
 
I ended up going with 65" of tube, it should be really close to being ok. If not, we might sleeve it with some bigger tube on the outside of the 3.5" stuff.

More/thicker tube just makes the jump rope heavier.

Thin large diameter is the cure.
 
Ok, just got a hold of some stock wall thickness tube. 3.5" x .090" thick wall. It will be the same as the factory shaft less the carrier bearing and center slip. I bet it will be fine. Ritch at the shop says it will be no problem.
