Another contractor digging some rock with a 568. The smoke is a good effect haha, they had just done a shot, so there was still smoke in the ground. Even after the shot, they had a hard time digging this rock as it was very fractured and just soft enough that it dissipated a lot of the blast energy but was still hard enough to be difficult to dig.

How much experience did you have before you bought the machine? And what have you been doing to drum up business? Looks like a hell of a fun way to make some extra money!

Who is doing the road work?
Is that Tim Brown or Jerry Debraie's 568?
I am thinking of trading my JD 2954D in on a new 568 LL. NC called last week wanting to deal.

They have a couple loaders as well and the guys seem to really like em. Pretty impressive where they take them and how much wood they can swing.

I demo'd one 4 years ago when they were just coming out and it was sluggish compared to our 3850 Madill's (4800 UC,pumps & Detroit series 60 cranked to 500hp with a 3800 upper) but they have been tuned up and I like them alot now. Very stable and comfortable. They only burn about 8-10 gallons a day more than the 325DFM too.

You must work for ODF?

I cut for Nygaard for a few years all around the Big Creek & Nicolai areas.:beer:

If you have been there awhile then I have probably met you. I cut for Scott Lundberg, Nygaard, Browning, Olsteadt, ect from the late 90's to mid 2000's. :beer:

I ran full size machines for a local company for 2.5 years... I started working there when I was still finishing up high school. They would have me help with the maintenance, so I would start by walking the machines around the yard back to the shop to do whatever with them. Then they had me start loading trucks in the yard. Then I proved to be ok enough to work out on jobs. I left that company to come to the lazy B. I had purchased an older Case machine a few years ago to start doing side work and see how it went, then back in April I traded up to the Cat.

Lots of the work comes from word of mouth, specially in the area I live. I have run a few batches of direct mail post cards, a few adds on CL, Facebook mostly. I do have a few builders that use me for dirt work sub and my mom is a realtor. There is a fair amount of competion out there but there is a lot of work too.

It is fun, I enjoy the work a lot more than anything else I have done. :awesomework:

Private Message sent. My home power has to be underground but the permit for that hasn't been approved and won't be till spring L&I said I can run the well wiring through the air since it will be a dedicated service.

Started a lot clearing job today, might lead to a demolishing the house also once the crap is cleared from around it. I don't know the history of the property but its a nasty one for sure. The lot is lake front so it should be well worth it in the end.
