Wood stoves

I have a wood stove I got awhile back. Now I'm getting cold feet about cutting a hole in my roof. But I have a carpenter friend that is going to do that and install the flashing for a rack of beer.

My question is the chimney piping. The outlet on the wood stove is 8". Can I reduce it down to 6" and use 6" piping?? Or will the pipe get to hot. Last thing I want to do is burn down my garage.

If you do, I would run 8" in single wall and reduce to 6" insulated where you penetrate. Don't know that it will be up to code. Just my .02

May want to pony up the cash for a pro install, I think if it burns your house down and you didn't your insurance won't cover it. :redneck:

I decided to get rid of it. I want a wall hanging gas heater. So I'll pony up for that.

you can install them yourself and it is covered as long as it is permitted w/ your local city / county....
