Should we close the forum?

I've been cleaning up the forum - and I'd like to try to jump start the forum again.

I'm not sure about you with all this pandemic lock down, I'm eager to get out and hit the trails. I'm sure others feel the same way.
Always more fun to do it together. Sure some of you have left for Facebook, but there has to be a few of you that absolutely hate that place.

I think it will be fun to get this place going again. If you're a vendor, I'm willing to offer you a free account to post deals etc.

I believe that vbullitin is a dying script for any forum. Not saying the sport is dead but Facebook and insta are kinda taking over the communication aspect.

My forum (PNWJeep.com) is dead as well. I think the lift cycle of forums is done, not sure there's anything you can do to resuscitate at this point. I renewed the domain but zero real activity in quite a while.

This forum was a great thing back in the older days... ive found many great deals on this site and met some cool people but like others have said FB has taken over.... I'm not on Facebook but places like this don't get the hits like they used to... i always come back and check on things every now and again.. like poohs daily chick thread..hahaha...

I hope that forums make a resurgence, its the best place to find real information that has been around for years. The FB, IG and such is usually just gossip not real builds or tech you can follow.

I stopped coming on here due to some of the BS at the time. Then I was out of wheelin for about 7-8 years due to health issues. I'm now able to work on my TJ again and mainly post on a TJ specific forum.

If we could jumpstart this forum again I might hang around but I don't know what it would take. Just like getting people to join actual clubs anymore is hard with the internet & social media for people to be able to organize runs and GTG.

This board and like many other pnw boards were mainly certain friend groups. Now that this boards fearless leader left his friends followed him out. Probably the nail in the coffin. Poohs chicks kept me checking in lol! Oh way to many adds too.. just like pirate

I think only very niche specific forums are really relevant just because how the information is easily searched and threads go back to the top. Ie- keeping track of a specific build or a common problem with a vehicle. Facebook is terrible with that.

Is there a FB group? I know theres a ton of wheeling groups on FB, but is there a specific one for folks from this forum? Thats where most of the activity is now. I know some people dont do FB, but a lot of people have IG and other social avenues

I haven't been active on here ever really (see post count) , but I am more of a lurker than a poster. As such, I find forums to be about a million times more useful than Facebook or Instagram. I have actual people I can speak to in the real world if I just want to be social, but a tech thread on a forum is can be useful 10 years down the road. I see a lot of forums withering away, but they still have a lot of value in my opinion.

Hey man, I like the forum format better then fb. Cant stand fb. With that said, I would be willing be more active as a vendor if that helps bring people back. I did however move to AZ, so that could be a good thing, I no longer have to charge tax to WA customers.

I have a Facebook but I honestly hate it. I only created an account to join some of the jeep and wheeling groups. If these type of forums made a come back I would most likely delete my facebook.

I have been so busy, I forgot all about this site, however I have found numerous answers to my project problems on here. Now that I'm actively working on the

wagon again I would love to see it stay. I dont have want or use any social media platforms so this is good for me.

I have been working way too many hours and haven't had time to wheel or do anything else much. When I do get time I tend to just lurk. I have facebook but don't even check that out much. I stopped by pirate4x4 and that is dying as well.

I have been an active member on a number of forums over the years. They are definitely going the way of the 8 track though. Only retro old timers will be on them soon.

most of the information I used to get off here is now on YouTube videos. Honestly, my advice would be to start a YouTube channel teaching people how to modify, drive, wheel, and camp. There’s so many of you that could be invaluable in passing your knowledge along to the next generation of enthusiasts

I'm like all the rest. I personally love forums you can find build information, upgrade Ideas etc to help you make a better informed decision. But as the kids come up and all live on facebook. They are the ask someone era where some of us old timers spent many hours on forums reading thread after thread...

IMO if you can afford it keep it if not oh well another good Horse put out to pasture....

Keep it, as not everyone wants to or is forced to conform to FB.

Otherwise FB controls content, access, threads, feeds, suggestions, policy and everyone’s favorite topic - politics.

Id honestly like forums back. Face book etc is just click bait bs. Shot me some notifications of activity and it will bring me back for sure. I always check forums when i need realy info or build ideas.

Tough call. I hate FB groups. There's a ton of the same groups all over FB all whining about why the other groups suck. There's no real easy way to search anything on there and the same jackwagons ask the same repetitive questions and telling them to Google search or check a forum (what's a forum...?) gets all the internet gangsters up in arms attacking. If the forums stay online then the in depth information will always be available. Hell, I still go thru 4x4wire, yotatech and t4r.org for tech. Plus, with what's available on YouTube, you don't even have to read!

Anyways, long story short, keep it online for tech. As far as a meeting place? Meh...
