Hey guys, I'm in a bit of a pickle. The kids birthdays are coming up in a month and I'm looking to buy them a swingset. Well thanks to the corona virus, everyone is sold out of most everything. Does anyone have a local Amish or Mennonite type place that builds/sells swing sets and has them in stock ready to go? I'll drive to wherever(within reason) to pick it up. It seems like most of the local places are either sold out or are selling their base model swing sets with none of the stuff we'd like on them or they are just cheap junk that'll be wore out in a year or so

Ideally looking for:
Baby swing
Toddler/big kid swing
climbing wall
Slide

I would give you **** and say something like, "Be a man and build your own!" But since my oldest is about to turn 7 and still doesn't have a swing set because his lazy daddy hasn't built him one yet, I'll sit over here and shut up.

I think that's what it is coming down to. I've called probably thirty companies this morning. Everyone is back ordered through august as far out as Christmas. So I've started piecing together a kit online.

Just build your own.

Swings = unspool winch rope over tree branches, hook kid to rope via soft shackles (because safety) and then winch in. Now you have variable height swings. Baby swing is lower to the ground and big kid swing is way up there.

Climbing Wall = stack misc. stuff in the backyard (tires, mowers, axles, etc.) and you have a climbing wall. Giveaway free tetanus shots after the Liability Waivers are signed and notarized.

Slide = Take metal roofing off one of the out-buildings. Build a small triangular platform, some kind of stairs, and you have a slide. Giveaway free tetanus shots and possibly burn cream (if the slide is in direct sunlight) after the Liability Waivers are signed and notarized.

There is a mennonite community near Fayetteville TN but I don't know the name of them or if they build such a thing, also Muddy Pond in Monterey TN but again not sure they do that but they make some damn good sorgum.

My sons father in law builds them, but he is in Harrodsburg,KY. If you are willing to drive that far i will check what he has available.

Tried these folks: https://theswingsetco.com/ ?

Might could give this guy a call and see what he is offering: https://knoxville.craigslist.org/for/d/harrison-playground-and-swingset/7107908995.html

There are always used swingsets around here on craigslist. Not sure if you want to go that route.
Trying to not go the used route. Most I’ve seen have not been stained or taken care of in any way at all. I’d rather build to be honest.

swingsetco was a bust. Super long lead time. I’ll check the craigslist ad tomorrow.

Yea man, the drive doesn’t bother me. Give him a shout and let me know

In the process of cleaning up a free one off of marketplace. Same issue where they didn’t take care of the wood, but I’m reusing the swing hardware and climbing holds and just replacing all of the wood. Gave the slide a good pressure washing and it’s as goodish as new

I haven’t officially ruled it out. I’m still keep my eyes open for a deal. But the Nashville Facebook market has been pretty scoured over

that’s what I did also. $100 for a junky one. new roof, new base wood, and I added a “large” deck off one side made out of a large solid decked hardwood pallet.
I need to spray it with some stained sealer, but....

It’s no problem. I appreciate you trying. I’m pulling the trigger today on ordering lumber and playground supplies.

Around here, many of the Shed rental/pay-as-you-go places have swing sets/playgrounds out front for sale... You might find one at a place like that and have them drop it off.

Other than time, I dont think you will go wrong with building it yourself.

Craigslist Chattanooga has a bunch advertised. Have you looked at any of them?

I have. When you call them most are older ads, sold out or either have the base model or absolute top of the line available. And I can’t afford a $10k pirate ship

What if it was a $10k Torq Pirate ship? That is what Doug probably said too. lol
