Have ya'll seen this? Craziness. I saw the video from the random lady in traffic that filmed it all. But she cut
it off right as he got shot. The body cam angles show it clear as day. 100% suicide by cop. Crazy what this world is coming to.

Truly a difficult position for the officers to be in. I hope the NMPD Command Staff backs their officers up as I am quite certain people who have no idea what a situation like that entails are going to raise hell..."they didn't have to shoot him...it wasn't no gun, "they could have just shot him in the hand...they didn't have to kill him",etc... Based on my experience and training, totally justified shooting. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens to the 9 officers involved.

Seeing someone beg for someone else's life is heartbreaking.

I do wish there were better non-lethal options for "stand-off" situations like this.
Like this batman ****

1000% suicide by cop and 1000% justified shooting.

Not to make light of the situation but the way the guy who got shot quickly pulled his hand out of his pocket made me think of the shooting scene from the Clint Eastwood movie Gran Torino.

From the outside looking in, seems like a perfect use for the non-lethal option like the BolaWrap, rubber bullets to incapacitate, or to taser the **** out of him. Also, I was super surprised that the people stuck on the interstate were able to get close enough to the situation to get good videos etc. Figured they would have had them locked down in their cars for some protection.

All that said, and it may be my cynicism showing, but I can't help but feel like if the guy who got shot was on the darker spectrum of skin tone, Nashville would have burned last night.

Yea you’re 100% correct.

Saw just a bit ago that Metro Police have decommissioned a 25 year Officer for firing the last two rounds from a rifle after the cease fire had been issued.

The patience these cops took by far exceed what I would have had for him . At the same time I really don't feel it was necessary for all 9 to shoot . 3 or 4 would have got the job done . Although if he would've actually had a gun when he drawed their wouldn't have been a way of determining which direction he was going to fire . So therefore I feel like each cop had the right to protect himself.

Agreed on patience and a lose/lose situation for everyone involved.

Saw a news article earlier today in which the NAACP is demanding answers and justice for the white guy that wanted suicide by cop…

Well these days it seems par for the course, all the “yeah right, that’ll never happen” stuff keeps happening. I’m an optimist and keep telling myself that at certain point we’ve gotta come back reality :/
