Evans Creek NOOB run June 23, 2007

When: June 23rd, 2007
Where: Evans Creek
Time: Meet at 9:30am in the enterence parking lot. CB channel 4. Hit the trail at 10:AM.
What trails: 311 lower and upper, 520 to the 198 and down, 199 and maybe the 102 down. (Note: Depending on whom and what type of rigs show can change what trails are done. We can do other trails after that depending on what time is left.)

This run will be set up for people that need experince and wanna learn, have less equipt rigs, Wanna see Evans and/or just wanna enjoy the day. We can break up into groups if needed in case agressive people wanna move on. Anyone is welcome.

Rig requirements:

No broken down junk.
Common since.
Street legal.
Lift and agresive tires.
Rear locked, welded what ever.
Recovery gear.
Tools and extra parts.
Your own food and liquids.
CB (if possible) channel 4

You just have no common since.

and for what it's worth, a 4x4 run and a Subaru run at the same time is not the best idea (in my opinion) as Subaru go at a distinctly slower rate than most 4x4s due to lack of ground clearance, lack of tire size, lack of front lockers, lack of low range tcase, unitbody construction have limited wheel articulation, etc etc etc. I'm not bashin' Subaru, and I enjoy seeing one or two on the trails, but a large group will be slow - really really slow.

Yeah, but wheeling with a Subaru Crew is a blast. :awesomework:

It means that we will be camping and taking care of the park for the weekend. Doing trail maintance and keeping the campground clean and orderly. It also means that we get to beat people with sticks that get out of line.

OK that last part isnt true but sure sounds like fun:cheer:

I have friends that wheel Subarus. It is all about good company and just plain having fun in my book. Also, it is a NOOB run, not looking for speed. You never know when one might be pulling your junk out. :haha:

Dont forget you will need trail park passes. You can get these in wilkison on your way up.

As the Host I dont need one:fawkdancesmiley: But I have one anyway that you can steal if you can catch me:haha: The passes are only given out for "official" work partys the hosts cant give them out. If you attend a work party you get a day pass for each day worked. You can turn in 2 day passes and get a season pass:cheer: This can be at any work party we have on any of the forests where the pass is required.

So, what's the deal with the parking pass' Pokey...? I thought previously you said that you don't need one if you're just there wheeling..?

Not me but its a common misconception. Like most laws its up to the interpitation of the issuing officer. Its always been my belief that a pass is required to use Evans creek. They call it a parking pass because its used at trailheads both hiking and ORV. Hikers park their car and well we dont.

Hmmm, isnt one of the reasons we go wheeling is to enjoy nature? Got to go slow to enjoy. The ones that arent equipt to run the harder trails can usually ride along with someone else. I've done most the trails at EC and only slow down or stop if I break something. This is from last Sun at EC.

I do have one of the most capable Subaru's in the area. Hope to have a chance to wheel with some of you guys, so it can show you its stuff. The driver has his moments tho:eeek:

Evan's Creek requires the 'Forest Use Pass' which you can pick up in Wilkeson, or at the Chevron in Burnett on your way up to the park.

I would suggest (if you plan to come back sometime soon) to purchase the 1 year pass, it is a better deal, versus the short-term pass.

If memory serves me right the yearly pass is like $30. and That is Calendar year not seasonal year, so it expires 1 year after your purchase.

I think the short term passes are like $10 or $12.. I can't remember been so long since one of those have been bought. and I think it is like a one or two day pass, again can't remember that either. Damn old age!!
