worst wheelin injury?

Hardline Crawlers - Rock Bouncer Builds, Tech & Off-Road Trail Talk

Help Support Hardline Crawlers:

I broke my wrist at reiter on labor day this year by getting it stuck between a truck and a tree on Saturday morning, wraped it in a wheeled the rest of the weekend and went to evergreen on Monday night after unloading everything at home.

That Pirate run a few years ago, a dude shows up with no front drive line in a yota 4runner. Tierod will not stay together. Thinks he is gonna hang with us, who am I to say no? That big dirt hill on the way into moon/funny rocks, dude stalls it, slides sideways, and rolls it 8, 9, 10, times. Dude has his dog in with him. He gets a pretty good bump on his head, some cuts and bruises, dog was ok, freeked, but ok. I opened the back hatch, dog streaked out like he was shot out a cannon ! Ran into the woods and stayed there, in the woods. (That was funny). Glad no one got hurt bad....

My buddy got a concussion from a high lift(most dangerous tool 4 wheelin) I got skiers thumb(tech term) when it got jammed in the steering wheel.

That aint jack compared to loosing Terry Silvertson on the isabelle trail(rock ledge) He was raised in the no seatbelt era.

was driving an old jeepster I had with manual steering though the shoestring went to go around a tree on the drivers side tire caught a root and spun the wheel throwing my left arm out the door(no doors) said arm caught between the tree and the half cab promptly peeling all of the skin off between my wrist and elbow on the inside:booo:

My worst is when I was using a hi-lift as a winch to keep tension on this guys rig as we were working on it. After we were done, I put the jack in "down" mode, slipped in the mud and reached out for the jack to keep myself from falling down. The jack went into "auto-reverse" and smashed my thumb about 6 or 7 times. Got to the doctor a few days later to find the middle bone in my thumb as totally smashed. Gone, no bone there anymore.

Another was when we were wheeling liberty a few years ago. We were just having an easy day. Going slow with the club. A log about the size of a railroad tie, got caught up under the front tire, and it flung into the cab of the Jeep. (No doors on it). It BARELY missed hitting my wife right in the face, and it landed across both of our laps. That was spooky.

broke my thumb a couple of months ago using a ratchet stapp to set a bead,,still hurts, and it made it very hard to wipe my ass..:kissmyass:

Never any serious injuries to me or anyone riding with me, besides the normal cuts/scrapes/bruises. I came pretty close to smashing my hand between some tube and a tree one time though, because I wasn't paying attention to where I had placed it on my cage... kind of a scary thought.

That was the second time I've done that (sick_boy watched me do something similar at Drunky Rocks this spring, except it wasn't a tree, it was a large rock), so I made myself a reminder with the label maker and stuck it to the dash.

bruised ribs and 10 stitches in my forehead plus numerous scrapes and cuts. It was about 10 years ago ridin in my buddies jeep coming back from a snow run, hit a patch of black ice that sent us in the ditch and end over end, got the stitches from winshield or door glass not sure, but the bruised ribs came from my buddy un-doing his harness and landing on me in the scramble to get out of a burning rig.

I've had a few close ones since but nothing like that.

A couple three years ago down in Florence, Oregon, a buddy rolled his jeep and the passenger tried to catch himself:rolleyes: . Crushed his arm right about his right wrist, bones were sticking out and everything:puke:

As for me, I got stuck by a sticker bush once:redneck:

Knock on Rock, me and mine have been pretty lucky. A couple years ago at Uwharrie, back in North Carolina, I was with my bro-in-law and sister in his Bronco climbing a hill where the trail went up and then turned to the left as a cutout across the slope, and a group of ATVs coming the other way pulled over to wait for us and watch us come up.

They were stopped along the downhill side of the trail, their right, and just as we got to the top a lady in their group somehow slipped and started rolling sideways on her ATV down the hill. She took a couple full rolls with it before she could get clear, and it went on without her for a few more before finding a tree. She was a little banged up, but nothing major. Come to find out that it was her first time on an ATV since getting over recent back surgery.

As she was rolling we jumped out to try to help, and just as soon as everybody helped her up and she was up and dusting herself off, a kid on a dirt bike came down the trail asking whose Bronco it was. He's just come from a group of horseback riders up the trail and one of their women had been thrown from her horse and was bleeding from a head wound. So we hopped in the truck and followed him back to those folks. She and her husband wanted a ride down the hill to their camp so their veterinarian could check her out, so the 5 of us (plus dog) hustled down the rest of the trail back to their camp, bumping and bouncing along with her bleeding and moaning the whole way down. (She wasn't in too rough shape.)

Moral of the story: stay in an automobile? Don't let women outdoors? North Carolina's dangerous? I dunno, you decide.

Nearly KO'd by a Hi-Lift, after I threw it at some trees and invented some new word's for it, it never did it again.:redneck:

Yup. Jacking up a buddy's truck that got high-centered on a big rock up by the top of the old Shaw Lake trail. It had just started snowing and as I was trying to gently lower it back down (standing off to the side), my hand slipped off the handle and got me square in the forehead. I'm a decent sized guy and it sent me flying several feet and I landed flat on my back. If nobody had been there to tell me otherwise, I would have sworn I was out cold, but just ended up with a little cut and a sweet bruise.

I seem to remember something similar happening when we were jacking up my truck, but the truck almost landed on me too...

Sorry 'bout that.

Seriously though. It's amazing I don't get hurt more often. It's not so much that I do stupid stuff, but no matter how careful I am, whatever can go wrong usually does. :booo:

i just remembered: i was with crash, karl, sursely, and crusty, we were recovering that bronco a couple months ago, and a tree fell on sursely's girlfriend. :eeek: she was fine, but it was kinda scary.
