same thing happend to my 01. one of the 2 wires on the back of the alt. had a brake about a 1/2 in. off the connector. volts would drop id turn off engine and restart with full voltage.

thanks for the info i check into the sidekick pump earlier i think the pressure is down so is the volume. i dont know why i didnt think of trying the toy tank

im swapping in a 22re my questions are: is the stock hard fuel lines in an 88.5 sami large enough for full throttle fuel supply they are a bit smaller than stock toy ('91 truck) what external fuel pump are you guys using for this swap serial# & make, model if you have it thanks for your help.
