I just picked up an 88 4runner w/3.0 for a steal of a deal and going to start building it for the trails. I've been wheeling a 1st gen. shortbed pickup with 5" All-pro's up front and 1/2 ton 63 inch chevy's in the rear with excellent flex and very little rubbing issues with 37 boggers. The only draw back was the front springs got soft REAL QUICK and lost alot of lift. I've always been extremely happy with how it flexes, but with the added weight of the 4runner, winches, bumpers, cages, family, DOG!!! YES a 110 lb German Shepherd. I'm looking into other options to run 38"s, get good flex, and hold up a little better. I was thinking about going with the Trail-Gear 5inch 25% heavier springs or Marlin's springs up front and either company's 56"s in the rear.
1's question: Anyone running this combo or Trail-Gear or Marlin's up front, and do they flex and hold up well?
2nd question: If you're running the 56"s in the rear do they flex well or would you go with the 63" chebbies in the rear.
Pic's would be appreciated, and thank's for your feedback:corn:

Here's a pic of the 1st gen...I'll get a photo of the new project soon and will post the build process as it progresses.

Well I am running the all-pro 5" in the front of my runner. So far so good. I do have there 5" springs in the rear too. Very soft and they flex really good. You have seen pictures. That was the first run on them too.

i was running the HD trail gear 5" springs in the front of my x-cab taco and they worked pretty good, definately stiffer than the regular ones. i switched to the 3" springs to get the truck lower and softer and theyre holding up ok, pretty flat and a little "S"d after a few hard trail runs and huge jumps. defiinately run some good bump stops or youll bend them. :awesomework: DT

i run t-g's 5''hd up front they are stiff for a couple runs but then they soften out and they work really well. in pick flexed on 39s

i run stock rears double stacked in the front with a sky 3" drop front hanger and boomerang shackles on my overloaded 87 4runner (dog girlfriend big 12v cooler lots o tools/recovery gear exo....)they flex like crazy carry the load well and dont break! cant beat the price ither. in the rear im running early 90s pickup rears reversed stock spring mounts and shackle mounts moved back 2" extending the wheelbase to 115". i had to section the rear wheels to fit the 37" krawlers front fenders are uncut

waggys up front and dakotas in the rear. gave me bout a 4" lift. havent got any trails runs on them yet as im still puttin it together but in the shop they work pre good. there are more pics under my build if interested. i have heard waggys like to break but i guess i will see.
