Yep at school we got 2 sticks to burn was all cause its expensive:redneck:

This friday we try again?

well got a little rework started on the rear end.

got the correct rod this time:redneck: the rod cost me more than the rear end did.

Its pretty east to tell when ya have all the steel ground off as the sparks change color. they go from a brite yellowish orange to a dull cherry. i tried to get all the steel off the nodular iron so the nickel can bite into it well.

Alrighty cool that gives me time to put together a filing cabinet and reorganize my room lol:redneck:

Sam stick welded the nickel and I ground out all the rollovers till I had good entry angles then did a cover pass with wire.
I had to grind to make it look good:redneck:

got lincs

finally some progress that can be shown. been trying to get some parts so i can actually finnish a few things.

but anyway thanks to Bunk for the hook up i have a start on the upper lincs. the left hand thread side is done, now i can return the borrowed tap:D i own the other tap. so looks like the lowers are gonna be about 44ish and the uppers 36ish. thats not the exact 75% rule but fairly close. i figure ill end up doing this at least twice...any linc gurus feel free to chip in any time. from original tacking i have already decided to widen the lowers at the axel a little more. anyways on to the pics:

from this to this in a sixpack of petes wicked ale.:redneck:

What is that, 1.5" 3/8 wall? Why tapped, as opposed to inserts, strength or did you just want the tube smaller so your joints look big?

cause a weld in bung for 1"-18 LH is like $25 each times 4 plus the rh 4 is way more than borrowing a tap and a sixpack...:redneck:

these are called tall nuts, $2.34 each. They just fit between the flats and with a touch of the grinder on the tip of two corners they fit snugly into the id of the Square tube, once i have them cut to length ill weld these into the tubes. maybe put a rosette groove in the sides.

Couple of joints welded up.

Sorry to drag this back out from a few pages back, but where'd you find these? I'm thinking this will be a good solution for my 4 link as well. I plan to build my lowers from square tube.

thanks hip

Champion nut and bolt on north broadway in everett. Great fastener store.

i have some extra square tube depending on how long yours are going to be.... needed 16 feet had to buy 25.

Thanks HIP. It'll be a month before I know anything at this point. I'm still just in the research and planning stage. Getting the general idea on paper.

some progress:

i reamed the dodge knuckels for one ton TREs from the top, made my draglink. done till hydraulic steering parts get ordered.

should be some major progress soon as im taking a week vacation from work and will be spending the entire week in the shop....:D

Yeah baby. I'm getting a little anxious, how bout posting a pic of the big pile of materials for next week's activities?
