Elbe Hills Rock Crawl - help needed

I'm waiting to hear back from the Puyallup Moonshiners. They have a fund set up for projects like this. I may have been too late to get my request in for last Friday's meeting.

I'm also waiting for Karl to get back to me with Billy's contact info to see if we can use his truck.

Rollin Heavy is also checking on a truck to haul the big stuff.

No, I'm retarded.

Thank I have it now. I'll get in touch with him today to see if and when he's available.

We may need to raise a few bucks for the excavator though. I haven't had any luck coming up with a free one yet.

Billy has an excavator too. :awesomework:

Upcoming work party

So here's the scoop.

We have several dump truck loads of free rocks and boulders. Obviously we don't have a lot of need for help to move them... Karl's buddy Billy came through and is willing to volunteer his time and equiment to move them.

Depending on WHEN the date is set (this depends on Billy's schedule) we'll be transporting them up to the pit at the end of the 8 road and maybe a few at the entrance to the Rainier Vista as a gatekeeper.

Billy sounds like he knows what he's doing so once we see the rocks and set the site, plans may change. If he fits, we may skip the storage step, back up to the top of the hill and dump the load. We may also backup to the bottom of the hill and unload some of the material there as well.

If we have some other heavy equipment out there the same day, we'll have a better chance to get some actually on the trail. Those of you who have or can get tractors, dozers, excavators of any size or type, please keep an eye for the date and make arrangments for favors, or whatever.

This will be in the next 2-3 weeks but again, I can't confirm a date until I get a date from Billy.

If anyone else has a dump truck to haul, we could make short work of the hauling process.

There is a second location to possible pull from and that's the pit where all the shooters go. We'd have to dig... but if we had a backhoe or dozer working in there, at any time, we could get some rocks out, ready to move up the hill when the dump truck is available.

Things are moving forward on this! A few guys with 4wd tractors, backhoes etc will help a lot.

I've asked to see if we can get some logs to work with. These will probably have to come from the Gotcha. So that's where the trail rigs come in. Chain up the logs and drag them from the Gotcha to the Rainier Vista. I haven't got approval on this yet but I hope to hear soon.

I will get the Timber Tamers to take care of Billy's fuel for the day. He is a club member after all...

Thanks Gary. I offered but he denied to accept payment... :)

I'm just waiting to hear back from him on a date. He had some stuff to finish as his shop first.

He has done a lot for the club too..

I will figure with him how to get paid somehow. Be it cash for gas, or trade work. Billy is one of the truly good guys in this world.

And by the way. When I was visualizing this very same thing for the rock pit, I was trying to figure some diagonal parking for trucks/trailers at the end of the road. And, flatening out the little side road that goes from the pit and comes back out to the main road right by the trail system.

this area could be used for tent type camping and help take some pressure off of the campground. It would be nice to be able to drive to the pit, camp there and play.

That little side road, if we're talking about the same thing, is actually part of the Rainer Vista trail. It's not properly recorded on the trail map. I could see using that as an easy access but I don't kjnow that it would ever be tow vehicle accessible or anything along those lines. I could see a potential for some tent camping up there. Don't know if the DNR would go for it... We'll have to have a better look next time.

Here is a picture of a man made rock trail, it would be nice to see something like this at Elbe
