203/205?

So I just got done reading the other thread on T-cases and it got me to thinking, I was planing on a 203/205 for my Scout and figured I should ask for some insight.
Since I'm going to be into it any way, what are some things I should inspect/replace/upgrade? This will be my first time opening up a t-case so any help would be greatly appreciated.

get a np205 rebuild kit if you dont know what shape it's in (and if you have the coin:. AT THE LEAST a new gasket set.:redneck: Check your input and output bearings/yokes.

personally id run the 203/lomax 205 if you got the coin. but do a rebuild/overhaul kit for both while you have them apart. it would suck to get them all put back together then somethin breaks over a shot bearing or what not.

There are not many parts in the 203 range box so it is an easy deal, just clean and install everything correctly. The 205 should be completely dissassembled, cleaned and resealed at least. New shiftrails are nice because the seals surfaces are always pitted and the detent grooves get worn down. Do you have a 32 spline front driveline output shaft?

IMO cable shifters are like condoms, they take away the feel. I like ORD shifters. :kiss:

are you selling something? What is NIB?

I don't Know how I'm going to shift it yet. I will have to see how it all fits together.

NIB means new in box. The most popular option is a 2" rotation or clocked, this means the adapter is made so the 205 has 2" more ground clearance. Sometimes the floor has to be modified to make this fit, depending on vehicle.

I haven't got that farinto it, but if it means modifying the floor, then I can do that. The rig is a 1962 Scout 80, the floor is pretty much open under the seats. It came with the seats sitting up on factory storage compartments aboout 8 inches tall.
