my dad and i are stuck on trying to get the heater to work in my 85 toyota. its blowin air, but no heat. all water hoses going into cab and out of cab are hot at operating temps.

things we've already tried:

-new thermostat
-replaced mechanical valve on firewall
-flushed water both ways through heater core
-burped whole system

any ideas?

Do you have the mode position set to blow from the dash vents---some of these would blow cold air only at the dash vents...I believe....I know my 81 did, not sure about the 2nd gens....

ive tried them all. bi-level, heat, defrost and fresh air or recirculating. none of them produce any heat.

i apologize, but what is the blend door and where is it located?
It's that thingy that some folks have a mount set up on the rear bumper...hook a cordless screwgun to it and....wait, wrong thingy!:redneck:
The blend door is in the heater box, used to blend hot/cold air based on input from the control head....check the heater box controls closely while working the levers back and forth, you'll see how they move to achieve said requested temp...

:haha:

are you talking about the cable that hooks from the hot/cold lever on the dash to the mechanical valve on the firewall that opens and closes the heater hoses?

if so, i checked that and it had falled off the level on the dash. i hooked it back on and still no heat. i then replaced the valve on the firewall with another one i had and still no heat.

Make sure something moves with each lever movement. You might have a loose control cable.

Mine would blow but no heat.

Here is why. Critterz!!
