I just built a new exhaust for my 3.slow in hopes to diminish the head gasket problem. Nothing fancy but it should help with a little power and keep the engin a bit cooler.
My questin is, how close can i run my exhaust to my transfer case. Im running dual cases and am kinda tigh on space.
In the picture you can see that the piping runs real close to the casing, I have about a half inch of clearance at the least where it wraps around the front ouput shaft...
Will i be overheating my t-case? If so what can i put inbetween the two to help with the heat trasfer?
This is the best pic i can find for now. Dont have a red star or photobucket accout so i can only post 1 pic at a time.

Please let me know what you would do. Im all for just running it if you dont think my case will get too hot.

Thanks.View attachment 51558

That will work as stated. But while your in there. Make the back section removable for ease of maintence on the tranny and tcase in the future. Welded exhaust sucks like that.

Looks fine to me. Ran mine closer to my slave cylinder on my 4.3 swap than you did there. If you want to be even more sure though, get some header wrap. Stuff works great. Mud sticks to it is the only down side.

Thanks for the replys. I figured it would be ok but a little reassurance is nice.

Skinny Pedal, thats a good idea. There is enough room to drop the tranny and t-cases as is now but it would be a lot easier if i could just take the exhaust off and get it out of the way. Thanks for suggesting that.

Don't worry about it...come up to canadia with us this summer!!!!:awesomework::beer:

I would love to go to Canada and wheel with you guys but unfortunately they wont let me in their country. :booo: Im a fellon so if you know a way around that im game.

Your not suposed to be able to go to Canade even with a DUI but i know people that have so i really dont know how it works.

If anyone has any experience or knowledge of how it all works please let me know. Ive been told i cant ever go so ive kind of just deleted Canada from my world map and never really looked into it.

Removable exhaust just leaks.

WELD that **** and dont look back.

The only reason to remove the exhaust is to A party the rig out, B cuz its junk.

Exhaust gaskets SUCK and ALWAYS FAIL.

No they don't fail, you just suck:looser: Most exhaust don't even use gaskets anymore. Try working on newer junk with welded exhaust......aint gonna work. Keep trying to turn people in the wrong direction though:rolleyes:

Using thin flanges and antiquated gasket materials makes for leaky exhaust. Quality thick flanges and modern thick aluminum gaskets makes a nice easy to work on system.
