TJ Brake light issue. Not working!

So I picked up a 98 TJ with the 4.0. The main brake lights don't work but the third brake light does. The running lights work also. Hazards don't work as I found out just now as well. I replaced the bulb to see if it helped and nothing. Fuse is good. I remove the wiring for flat towing to see if it fixed it and no. Any ideas? The switch at the pedal must be good cause the third light works, right? I don't have a book for it and am a bit lost. Any help would be great.

my brother had a similar issue on his xj? 2002 cherokee and it was the switch.

It's your turn single switch thing in your steering column, not sure what is called but everything goes though it
