I need some input about a trade that I'm considering... I'm not a Zuk guy and would appreciate your guys opinion...

I have a stock '90 Tracker with the 8v tbi 1.6... It's got a few bumps, but over all pretty decent...

He has an '86 Sami that's pretty much stock he wants to trade straight across...

I was wanting to do a SAS on the Tracker with a little lift and run 31s... Nothing major, just a fun little street rig that will do some light duty snow and logging road wheeling...

I'm thinking that I would be ahead of the game just starting off with a Sami... I also like the fact that it can go topless... It's carbed, but that can be addressed later on...

What do you guys think???

Sami's just keep getting harder and harder to come by, especially unabused stockers, and the top is worth coin, and makes it infinitely more comfortable to use. Do it.:awesomework:

Most definitely do the trade. All you have to do to put31 on is a leaf over an brake line an good to go. Nice little rig there. :awesomework:

I'm gonna talk with the guy and see if we can strike up a deal... I miss driving around topless in the summer... The blazer is no longer road friendly... Always liked the Samurais...

If you can strike the deal, go for it....Those tops are worth $$$... You can always upgrade the powertrain for more power. Don't be afraid of the carb...if it's stock and runs well, you can drive just about sideways...:awesomework:

The hustler in me says, do it and sell it.

The chevy in me says, thats a slow underpowered little POS.

I did exactly what you are thinking of about 10 years ago. I even spring overed it and built bumpers.

Then I drove it to the store. Went on CraigsList the NEXT day.

They shouldnt even have a gas pedal, just a lever with a turtle and rabbit.

I just couldnt do it, maybe you can.

After wheelin my sammy this weekend I like mine even more, do the trade.
Quoted for the truth---been threatening to possibly sell mine or trade, but after a run, it's like "Nope, can't do it..." been on that fence for a few yrs now... :haha:

Have you driven one with a 16V 1.6L swap Choppy? They are a whole new beast...

Yeah, but the one being traded is STOCK.

The reason its an appealing trade to Dirty is because its STOCK and can be modded SLIGHTLY and used LOTS.

He already has an overbuilt rig that needs a trailer and planning to go wheel in. Its no longer a "take off and explore" kinda rig.

First comes the 1.6L then the toy axles then the 36s, yadda yadda yadda.

Its a great BUILDER, but not my cup of tea as a mild rig. I did try it, ONCE. Its just not for me.

Louie is a chevy guy too, not to sure he would like crickets powering his tires. :scratchhead:
