What are the pros and cons of running a 5.3 or 6.0 Vortec motor verses a Propane 350. Which is the most bang for the buck? Im getting ready to start my project as soon as my chassis is finished, and Im going to use either a vortec motor or a 350 on propane with a TH400 and Np205. Which would be the best out of them?

There's info on both all over this website. Everyone will have their own opinion but it depends on what you are comfortable with. If you don't like wiring and want a stupid simple set up go 350 on propane. I had a 4.3 on pane it was great. On the other hand if your cool with a little wiring go with a ls based motor. I now have a efi live tuned 6.0, by far the most hp I've had in a crawler.

My opinion, go 5.3 :driving:

What about going with a 5.3 on propane? Use the Edelbrock #7118 manifold kit with MSD ignition and the propane setup is the same as a 350 engine. It works well and the only wiring on the engine is for the ignition system. The engine in the photo is a 6.0 with dual mixers but a single mixer will work well on a 5.3 until you get into some serious power.

Fuel Injection is great when it is workin properly but if you dont like wiring and want to keep things simple, propane cant be beat, just my opinion

i DON'T THINK ANYBODY GOT BUTT-HURT, IT'S JUST FUNNY FOR EVERYBODY THAT'S HAD THE LS vs SBC vs BBC vs PROPANE vs EFI ARGUMENT ON HERE BEFORE. iT'S LIKE FORD vs CHEVY, THERE'S NO RIGHT ANSWER SO JUST DO WHATEVER YOU LIKE AND YOUR WALLET CAN STAND. (although anybody with good sense knows that SBC is the only way to go :flipoff1: :flipoff1: :flipoff1: :flipoff1: :flipoff1:)

I have had both. A 6.0 LS based EFI motor and an LT1 that was converted to propane with a good bit of work done to the internals. Hands down the 6.0 was the better motor. The lt1 was a stout motor but it was a pain in the ass having to take the tanks to get filled. I guess I prefer the convince of pulling the buggy up to a pump on the trailer and swiping my check card or having the ability to borrow some gas from a friend out on the trail if I got a little low.
