Are you going to upgrade to the 23 spline, chromoly, 300M, whoopass input? How long have you been running that setup? Just curious, I have stock stuff in my duals.

How long is the slip section of your driveshaft? Mine truck is setup similar and pulled the front shaft apart yesterday grenading the centering ball. Just flexing on the ramp, it goes from about 35" to 37", but pulles out at 40". :dunno:

Been there done that! but i broke a stock one at Mountainside, I put a Marlin Crawler one in mine, he makes his alot bigger here and there, and of course a lifetime warranty, so far so good! I like trail gear, but I have there chrome molly axles and broke one into just hopping up on a rock above a idle, im sure there made in china, but they did give me another one, so no problem there

i am gonna try to upgrade by just calling tg and see if they will just swap it for the 23 spline and let me buy the coupler but we will see and this was its first ride in the truck :dunno: i did buy the t case used with the gears in it. and we was driving it pretty dang hard all day friday. my front shaft is sqaure so it has like a 2 ft slip yoke.

DAMN I hate ole yoter truck broke at the bottem of MASON JAR yall

And yea HATS OFF to Mr. Tom fer draggin yall back down the mountain,,,,, and OH YEA ,,,WERE THE HELL DID EVERBODY ELSE GO :wtflol:

We need to find a piece of ROUND pipe and sleeve the outside of yalls driveshaft and make it ROUND again ,,,, a sqaure shaft layin on a rock ledge goin BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! is bout as bad as a bindin U-joint

Re: Re: broke the trail gear 4.7 input

**** I hate that yall only got one trip out of those gears.

that 23 spline should fix you up tho ... Then you can break rear outputs ::)

I snapped one off like that by just dumping the clutch on loose dirt. I just put a new clutch in it and this was 5minutes out of the shop :wtflol: Being second hand TG would not warranty it, it was 23spline BTW. This made me miss a long planned ride that wknd. I was going to go back with a Marlin total spline input but I was told it would not work with TG gears due to a different cut.

yea they r gonna swap it with the 23 and we will just buy the coupler like u were saying. den we be ready again :woot:

You do front case low back case high and the marlin 23 is not strong enough! :****:

thats what i was in front low and the rear was in 2 high i had just barley had the clutch all the way out and it broke :dunno:
Broke a marlin 4.7 input the same way. Only time I use front in low and rear case in high now is on gravel roads.

I have almost always run my front in low and back high with my 4.7 and have give mine a lot of abuse with no issues, knock on wood no problems to date running 39.5 PBR and cut 42 tsl's

I guess sometimes our parts just says, Hey, :flipgotcha: I've had enough. Don't think it had nothing to do with the fuel I was runnin :drinkers:

I broke 2 TG 21 inputs after I put a 3RZ in my 4runner, one set on 38 TSLs the other on 37 Reds. I went back to 2 stock cases and sold the 4.7 case.

Yeah, we NEVER run the front case in low unless it's just gravel road crusing, or serious 1st/2nd gear crawling,

If I cant' crawl something and gottaput the "bump" to it, I'll pop the front shifter into HI. This gives you the wheel speed, and puts the trans and tcases in the strongest possible combo.

My buddy mike that had the black Toyota we was talking about used to hit stuff front case LO, rear case HI all the time till he busted the rear output and rear input in 2 rides. Now he is more careful about bashing the cases with the front in LO and hasnt' had a problem in 2 years.
