I've decided to go with a straight drive case for my upcoming buggy build. :****: Has anyone used the SCS straight through case? I'm trying to decide between that case and the regular quick change cases. Thoughts? thanks!

Alot of guys run them here in florida. They are a tough case. Check the trucks gone wild forums you will find more info there.

I'm runnin a pro fab as long as there mounted right there bomb proof supposed be rated at 3000 plus horse power but who knows

The only thing I don't like about them is there noisy. But they very strong. Most all of the mega trucks run scs; profab;
Or cyclone and I've got friends with 1100 hp and 5 ft diggers and no breakage. But like someone else said they have
Tobe mounted right .that's the only thing I've seen break is the mounting ears. The cyclone w as the cheapest last I checked

If you can run a 3.0 case or lower, check out the cyclone 10in case. When clocking a a straight drive case flat for a bouncer, you have to raise the seats a lot!!! The cyclone box is around 5+ inches shorter than a profab or scs. I am not sure what direct drive brian put in blue, but it must be something a bit different from the norm, because the seats do not look to be raised. And i think it was an scs of some kind.

scs straight drive case is the smallest out there.i already done my home work about 2800 for case with yokes.all dimensions are on their website.its the case for sled pulling.

If you put the straight drive in front of the seats then you will not need to raise the seats, and I think they put the mud truck case in blue, which I believe is a smaller length case which would be easier to fit inside the frame rails. The big scs straight drive is so wide that you either have to widen your frame rails or offset your motor, But they are bad ass. I've just designed a mount to attach to the back of a glide to mount the glide down to a cross member when using these divorced cases. Good thing about the big cases is they move the front driveshafts way away form the starter and transmision when clocked flat which allows for the motor to be set lower.

I'm in the later stages of my build and this has had me wondering for awhile. I have a dedenbear glide with a profab 12" case clocked flat. Always ran doublers in the past but I've wondering if I need a mount on the back of the trans. I'm running their short coupler btw. Would be interested in seeing what you came up with for that mount.

Here's the way my buddy mounted his.( hope he don't mind me stealing his pics). flashemifyougotem

I went with the profab after talking to scs. Scs didn't seem to hip on the shock loads that I told him would be on it. He said it's intended purpose was for sled pullin so I went with a 12" profab and clocked it. Like it was said above your seats have to be a bit higher when clocked flat but the beef is worth it to me. Here's mine mounted but am thinking about another mount at the tranny. Just in uncharted waters in this garage with this combo.

It's technically in front of the seat but as I came up with it driveshaft and seat clearence became the issue. But the rocks were partially to blame for that.

That's one badass buggy Brett! Done?
Hell no, still have about 10k to dump into it! Still have to buy shafts and all my odds and ends. Not cutting any corners and tight on cash makes for a slow build. Ha

Bret the seats going up was exactly what i was talking about. All of the scs and profabs i looked at were at least 16 in on the output side. The 10 in cyclone was only 10.5

Even if you mount nehind the case you still have to clear the shaft ! Which ultimately lifts the seats.

200lbs or 400lbs With 2 people, setting 4 in higher in a rig is a big difference in center of gravity!

I kept lowering the motor and rotating the case up which helped on the motor side but the seats were staying the same. I entertained kirkey's but my back is permantely screwed from ttc 09 because of them. The motor is pretty low just has a tall intake so I help that will offset my seat dilema.

thumb.gif Love the rig by way!! Cant wait to ser it on the trails.

I called SCS and got a quote on the "straight through" case with 1480 U-Joints front and rear & set up for a TH400. It was $3300 to the door. Jimmy Smith recently built a buggy with one of these and said it was the way to go. They are much more compact than the standard straight drive cases and still have the strength. I wanted this style because I didn't want the rear output offset. ProFab has one called the "Mud Racer Case" that looks like its similar to the SCS Straight Through case. I'll called to get info on the Mud Racer case and they said "the guy" that knows about those is out until next week. lol. More to come.

My prefab sounds like it's gunna come thro ur ass it's so loud but it beats breaking ****. As far as the hero case I'll wait and see if they hold up before I state any opinions
