Irok vs Bogger

Re:

I will say up front that I have not ran either one, but have buddies who have ran both. I know there is alot of hate out there for iroks, but the ones I have seen performed very well in the terrain we have in eastern ky. I think that boggers are great for what they are designed for, digging in the mud, but have heard storied of them taking off sideways like a sled when on a steep side hill, and with the tread pattern I could see that happening

I've had great luck with iroks on toyota axles. I think boggers would be great on the rear axle of a vehicle but I would a tsl or sx or irok for the front

Iroks worked better for me on light under powered rigs, boggers are my favorite tire overall (not the popular opinion) if you have the power to turn them and axles to hold them.

I love boggers. Iroks are ok I've had both. On my toyota I ran 38.5 boggers. They went everywhere. But side traction sucks and they are heavy. I got a set of creepy crawlers now and honestly I'd rather have my boggers.

Iroks do well on light weight rigs 2800 lbs or less with low psi. Had cut Boggers on the Scout and they did well on hook dirt, mud, loose gravel and that was about it.

What are you planning on running them on?

If not running a sticky tire, its hard to beat a TSL super swamper! they do great in mud, and do a pretty good job on rocks, the bogger is **** on rocks! and im talking about being on a normal trail rig! not a bouncer that hits it a 60 mph.

My sticky Iroks worked well in rocks and normal trails, let it rain a little and its on the rev limiter every where I go if there is any incline or muddy hill climbs. Boggers do good everywhere except on rock only climbs. If I had it to do over I would run a bogger over an irok but mine were sticky Iroks and I must say other than the muddy slippery **** I was very happy with them.

X2 on the iroks on toy axles. I ran 37s an then went to 39.5 before sellin the truck. I had really good luck out of em besides when it got really sloppy mud, def wanted my sx's back for that. I'll buy em again one day

I'll +1 to the IROK sucks in mud comment made above. I had 37" iroks on my old Cherokee and it did great most everywhere around here....sometimes shockingly great on rocks aired down, the mud turned them into a bald A/T tire. I watched a buddy in a heavy Grand Wagoneer on 35" 1/2 worn boggers idle up a small hill just after a rain(sorta hard pack, lil' goopy-black dirt), whereas I did my best impression of Tim Cameron trying for a world record time up Cable Hill. I never made it up.

The combo of boggers on the back and some version of a TSL on the front seems to be a good working combo in this area(either cut or not)

With this new buggy, I think I want to stick with regular TSL's, TSL SX's all around and/or Boggers on the back.

I've ran both tires and they both had +s and -s to them.

I had a (HEAVY) rockwelled rig with 44" boggers and they did great on the climbs that had a mix of rocks dirt as long has you hit it straight on. If you got on any kind of side hill they didn't have much hope of holding you there. You can groove the hell out of them to help with this. I ran them for years so they worked well enough for me to hang onto them. I took them up every trail in Hot Springs Ar, Clayton OK, Krocks and ran all over Gilmers muddy trails many times.

My current rig is a tubed out Zuki with 39.5 Iroks and I've been running the same set of tires going on 5 years now. They work much better on dry rocks and at low PSI. When we go to Hot Springs they do OK as long as it's dry. If it's wet at all they bring the suck. For anyone who hasn't been to Hot Spring the rocks can feel like ICE with a little rain. Up in Clayton OK they work great and will drag my POS up most anything but that has a lot to do with the traction there. I like the weight of them compared to most tires out there. I have mine mounted on a set of 10" wide beadlocks for reference.

With all that being said as soon as my money tree starts producing I'm going to buy a set of Red Label Krawlers. It's just stupid how well those things work.

Pic is a little dark, but I cut mine like this. Made a little difference on wet rocks, still sucked in the slop stuff though

I personally hate both of those tires, Have never been impressed with iroks for southeastern wheeling and when I had cut boggers on the rear they really sucked. The rear was always a struggle to get over obstacles and when I went to tsl/sx it was like going to stickys
