So I'm trying to finish weld my chassis and my almost brand
New welder starts acting up. It looks like it's getting an arc to the wire. Where it goes into the liner. It has a metal spring like cover over the liner. What's the deal?

That metal spring is part of your liner.
It is grounding out somewhere on your whip. make sure you have the whip pushed in the front of the feeder all the way and tight.

Which wire feeder/welder you have that way I can know which setup your working with since there are many types.

3 month old miller auto set 180.
Appreciate the help.
The whip is in and tight. Is the liner ( plastic material ) inside the spring, is it supposed to be sticking out past the spring? Or could there be an issue inside the trigger/gun housing?

No from your picture you have it correct for that machine. You have a wire grounding somewhere or something grounding somewhere.

Won't work is right, it has to be grounding somewhere. The cable housing/spring coil you have showing looks correct...is the liner damaged? maybe do a continuity test from wire to housing with a meter?

Is the contact tip sticking out of the nozzle? If it touches a grounded part it can but the wire back by the drive wheels.
