Can you weld onto the knuckle to tie in the stock steering arm into the high steer arm without taking the knuckle off or will it ruin the bearings or king pins?

Pretty sure knuckle requires pre heat post heat ****.. I know my buddy did, and wrapped his in welding blanket all night. But keep in mind I have no clue ...

Take advice from professional welders who have expert experience with welding **** :flipgotcha:

^^^^Lol. I've heard all kinds of things regarding that. Most people say that the knuckles are cast steel therefore requiring no special treatment. Just crank your welder and have at it. But now that I reread your question I realize I didn't answere anything. No idea about the heat ruining the kp's.

Why not just do like ColeWorx has done, but incorporate a tab to capture the heim.

the knuckles are cast steel and should weld just fine if your welder has the amps for it... however IMO it will increase the strength greatly if you do some pre/post heating and let it cool slowly... In the case your welder does have the ass for the job, i bet you melt the seals.. If you'd like to stay away from welding on the knuckle why not use a long bolt and a spacer tube to bolt the hi steer arm to the stock tie rod hole like the artec kits...

I baked mine at 400*, and rotated them back into the heat while I welded each gusset piece. Then I buried them in sand for a day. Haven't had any problems with them. But I can't imagine it working well still installed.
