I am getting a dog tomorrow and I've thought about the wifi in home surveillance cameras so I can keep an eye on him while I am at work. They make models that you can listen and talk through as well. Here is the one I am considering and I was wondering if anyone had experience with them or a similar product that could share opinions:

I have been opposed to them before because if I can see it on my phone/tablet, so can someone else. I wasn't wild about this, but if it's just aimed at the little buddy in his crate, all they will be able to tell is that he is in his crate or he isn't. I guess it is possible to determine if I am home or not by pattern, but you could just camp out and watch to learn that.

So, who has experience with these type products?

If you are gonna turn In to one of those people who buy a camera to talk to the dog while your at work. get a cat. That's gayer than someone taking pics of their dog with santa :gtfo:

I have some Pan Tilt cameras that I use over the internet to watch my store. Can't remember the specs, but it uses a good bit of bandwidth.

That's not what I want to hear! I need something low bandwidth. Definitely something to consider.

Thanks a ton for the offer! I ordered a $60 camera from Amazon prime and it got here yesterday. I gave it a shot and I think it does exactly what I need it to do. The audio function sucks, but he's a dog. I don't need to hear or talk to him. It was just nice to see how he behaved in his crate while I was gone. I imagine I'll use it to check on him periodically. It was worth the $60.
