So I hate all the new toys for kids now days. Nothing to build their imagination just look at the screen and zone out. So what was your favorite toys growing up?
I still have all my old tonka toys and have added to my colection over the years now I get to enjoy watching and playn with my son in the yard building roads and all sorts of stuff. Also have all my legos also have added to that collection.
But I want for my kids is a slot car track so if anyone has one they want to sale or donate to a little boys dreams of being a race car driver I will take it off your hands.lol

You can't beat Tonka, hot wheels or GI Joes. I'd wake up, go outside, and not come back in until dark :****:. You're right about these days. Nothing to spark imagination. Most kids just sit in "zombie mode" staring at a screen.

My kids can't wait till Saturday and Sunday cause I'm off work and we go outside and play, ride bikes, swing, all the stuff kids should be doing instead of getting fat watching tv or playn on a tablet.
Man i loved gi joe would play for days fighting cobra. We always put our hot wheels in my dads vice and crushed them to dust.... So much fun.... At 5 or 6 we had model glue and would glue pcs on our cars to be like road warriors.

Re:

I liked building junk. Legos, Construx, and Capsela.

Oh, and Lincoln Logs.

We used to lay paperclips across the rails on the slot car track and fry bugs. Now that I think back, maybe that was a little creepy. Though I still like coming up with unorthodox was to kill pests, especially bees. We also had tons of toy guns. Not like nerf crap but the kind that will get you shot by police. Back then though things were different. Also, can't beat the old super soaker 50.

Lego's, K'nex, nerf guns, matchbox/hotwheels, and small replica farm equipment were toys of my past. Then I was old enough to get my first dirt bike, probably around 7 or 8. Good lord, that started an addiction! I rode the wheels off of some dirt bikes growing up!

How old are your kids?

My ole lady's little boy is turning 8 in a few weeks and we are kinda out of suggestions on things to get him, he already has too much and lately has been grounded from it all for a few bad grades. She wants to get him a trampoline, which I am kinda for and against, as is she. We know he'd like it, I used to jump on the trampoline a lot and loved every minute of it. But we never had one at my house, my parents never would buy one. Always jumped on the neighbors'. But it's only a matter of time before he falls off, breaks an arm or leg, and racks up some hospital bills.....so we really don't know what we're gonna get him for his bday this year.

I used to have a lot of these as a kid.....pretty sure these started my addiction with off roading lol

BB gun (or .22 rifle depending on where you live) and a fishing pole! These were my favorite items growing up.
X2 on the bb gun. After we moved out of the city my dad got me one. I would shoot that thing all day every day during the summer.

And go through a 5 lb box of copperhead like it wasn't nothin'! When I was 10 dad got me a .22, I couldn't keep ammo for ****. I'd kill birds, squirrels, rabbits, snakes...

This. My dad(wasn't around much) taught me so much when I shot a bird with my bb gun. He was like damn son that was a good shot, then he asked was I gonna eat it. I said no. He told me I was. I will say blue Jay's don't taste good. To the day I only kill what I plan to eat. Many lessons can be taught with a bb gun.

Stompers were awesome I had the track to race them on... My boy is 4 and my girl is 7 So I'm a little different age than yours. I still remember getting my first new bike for christmas. I was about 7 or 8 my brother was 2 years older than me. We tried to stay up all night of course we didn't last last 10 probably but in the morning was 2 new bmx trailblazers. White with blue tires. Do you know how coll it was to lay blue "black marks". It was classic 80s blue and white checker board pads and seat. I would give good money for 1 now.

Me and my wife are totally against trampolines. I have played on them at my neighbor's house and always hurt my back. Will never get 1 for my kids.
Going to take my girl for her first ride this weekend she is so excited! Me too! Gonna ride some rzrs and gonna pull out the ar pistol and let her have her hand at it. What more could a Dad ask for?

We just bought a new trampoline a couple months ago, I think they all come with a big net around them now to keep from falling out.

Heck yeah! I've got a single shot youth .22 Ithaca rifle that my dad give me years ago, her little boy loves to shoot it at my house and I loved shooting it as a boy. The coolest things to shoot was old spray paint cans that still had some paint in em. They'd fly up in the air and paint the ground. Also shot some carp from an old bridge as they swam near the surface of the creek...dad always let me do the fun things that was really more of a bad influence haha.

Thread full of nostalgia here! It's interesting to learn what all everyone enjoyed as a kid, especially since everyone varies in age.

I bet Kush had an imaginary friend as a young lad! And JohnG probably just played with dirt and his pet rock, because that's all there was way back then. :flipoff1: :rolf:

Yep, that would be about the only way we'll get him one. Eliminates a lot of the risk anyways.

Ha I cocked my damn Ithaca so much that I'd get blisters on both thumbs then I'd have to switch to cocking with my index finger.

I shot mine this morning actually. Cci quiet 22 good for whacking irritating ass birds beating on my damn porch in the morning.
