Torsion axle lift kits/ideas?

I recently bought a 48' vintage enclosed trailer. I carried it to Hale mountain a couple of weeks ago and it was a bitch to get in and out of there but I knew it would be because they have the worst parking lot ever. The trailer could use to be a couple of inches up off the ground. Have any of y'all lifted any trailers or have any ideas on lifting one?

Don't you just stick a block of tube between the axle and frame? I feel like that's the only way I've seen it done

I can't tell on the pic above, but I would run a couple spanners between the "lift tubes" also. Make it a boxed structure.

Best way to do it, no doubt. I always buy a 20 foot piece and use 10 on each side. Figured it gives the trailer a little more structural strength.

Do you run that piece solid all the way from the front axle to the rear without cutting it?

I used a 3x3 x 1/4 square tube, then ran channel across the front of the open ends of the tube to keep them from racking ever and cap them off. same at the back. Don't weld across the flange of the frame at the front and back of the tube, just along its length where the axle bearing members are. rock out

I just wondered if you used one solid piece from front to back on multiple axles if it would twist the frame when the forward tire hit a bump before the back one?

Yes one long piece. You are not actually changing any of the suspension design. With torsion axles each axle is completely independent of one another. You just adding a spacer or "lift block" (for you old timers) between the axle and frame.
That's why it is important to pull a trailer equipped with torsion axles level to the ground. Otherwise one axle will be carrying more weight, there is no equalizer to distribute the weight.

A picture of what you are talking about would be great. I assume you are using the channel to tie both sides togather? Did you weld the 3x3 to the frame and the axle bracket or bolt them back in like factory?

I have a Haulmark Edge Pro with the Dexter spread axle torsions. The trailer really sat too low for my Dodge. I called Dexter Axle and they make 3 3/4" spacer lift. Its just 1' long pieces drilled just like the previous pictures for each axle mounting point. I went that route just in case their was some kind of warranty concern. My trailer was new 3 years ago when i did it.

Did it help with dragging?

I did this lift after the first time we used the trailer. Just seemed way to easy stock to mess something up. I have yet to drag the trailer but even with the lift there are times I get close. The Haulmark has the drop down body work around the wheels. That is what scared me most. I could see having to cut a corner and either climb a curb or drop in a ditch. I just new that screw up the fender area.
