What would be the easiest way to cut my knuckles off the tubes, without cutting the surrounding brackets off. If there is a special tool let me know.
Sawzall, torch, cutting wheel? Just looking for suggestions, from anybody that has done this. From what i see its a pain in the azz no matter what. thanks.

i did it just to snag the c's so the cut didnt matter too much. I used a porta band.

I assume for a cut-n-turn job??

Normally I see people use an angle grinder and cutting wheel. Use a big worm-drive hose clamp as a straightline guide and a small metal ruler to constantly check for cutting depth.

I saw an online writeup where a guy used some kind of huge tubing cutter thing. It was sweet, but I don't know anyone that has one or where to find one. I don't think it would work with your spring buckets in the way anyway...

if you carfully grind the weld then you still have the shoulder to help keep every thing nice and strait when you weld it back up.If you just band saw it off and rotate then your at the mercy of youre strait or not so strait cut.Ithink you have better chance of it coming out as perfect as it was be doing it like this just takes more time.
