Winch drum crack/issue

Do i dare weld it or should i buy new??

I cut that weld off mine narrowed it 3" and welded it back together works great

I have not cracked the drum but I have welded to it. plus it looks like you couldnt do anymore damage to it, worse case you order a new drum

Im not narrowing it, Im trying to deal with the wire rope gouge in there, On the radius of the drum. Ive been telling myself to weld it and smooth it for months but i finally posted about it.

Are you gonna be running rope or cable?

Cable, weld and call it a day.

Rope? Buy new.

Why's that? A good grinding/flap-disking should fix it up spanky.

I bet you know a certain Marc that could TIG that bitch up like new. I say weld it. A little pre-welding prep and post-weldin TLC, she'll be good as new.

i've asked him a few times if i should take it home to fix :flipoff:

if you are woried about it you should weld it up and then take it to work and turn it down and make it smouth and bling
