I want to know what they call the type of trailer that has the little cabin in the front half and has the actual open trailer in the rear... I saw a picture on here of one someone was selling and would really be interested in seeing more pics of it and maybe some dimensions...:awesomework: I'd just like to know where to find one and what other styles they come in.:hi:

I think that was/is the dessurt fox.
If that is the one you are talking about, I checked a couple years ago and it was not rated well enough for a sami.
There is a lot on 99 between Everett and Lynnwood that usualy has one on the lot.

Fleetwood Scorpion is one. The Pak Rat made by Thor is the other, but I don't think they make them anymore. Neither has a big enough weight capacity for a 4x4.

Thor made a Pak Rat that was long enough to haul a Sami, but it woulda been close, so I didn't look too much closer. I have thought about those for hauling quads, because as far as toy haulers go, the Pak Rat was light, and pretty cheap. (2900lb dry, and I have found used for as low as 6k)

Like this one, they are sometimes called Hybrids. We can fit the Jeepster on the back without problem.
It weighs in at around 2500lbs dry, still has a 4500lbish payload, 14' full width deck, toilet, shower, ac heat, outdoor shower, refrigerator, sink, two burner stove, fold out bed. HTH

Did you guys buy it this way or was it a those guys creation? Looks pretty cool....:awesomework:

Yes we bought it that way, not from Pokey though (smeone else of the board, forgot who), it is made by Thor of California, it's called the Wanderer Pak Rat and as far as I know they are not built anymore.
At least once a week I have someone stop by the shop and wan't to buy it. In Goldendale I was told that a place in Tri Cities had something similar but couldn't find them. If I could find a company that made them still, I would look into carrying them on an order basis.

You can get Toyhaulers that will haul a 4x4. If Daniel (SoCalRedneck) is still in the country, he could tell you more on that. :redneck:

Here's mine. 25' Haulmark race trailer /w their living quarters package.

If you find another company that builds them and plan on being able to order, let me know:D

I've found used Pak Rats for 6-7k, but they're the shorter one. Looking to get one of the slightly longer ones for hauling the Zuk at times.

Bringing this thread back from the dead, because if you find someone making them again, let me know. :redneck:

Saw a cool one on Spike TV's Extreme 4x4. It was a gooseneck with a pop-up camper on the front and plenty of room for any type of rig. Unfortunately once I looked into it I realized it was custom built from http://www.trailerplans.com and I don't know where they got the pop-up camper. I think this would be the perfect setup for wheelin trips though, till I can afford a $250,000 diesel pusher motorhome!

Search on Pirate and they talk about it.

IIRC they convinced one of the above ATV type-trailer/flatbed manufacturers to sell them just the pop-up camper part they use, then adapted it to their goose.

But the manufacture had/has no interest in selling them to the public in any way, shape or form. And I guess even Extreme had a hassle getting it.

:redneck: way, and it can be done nicely, is a slide-in on the front of a longer-than-normal flat-deck. Although pbmcauliffe's is nice and looks clean, Avanteone's is real nice, but looks SNUG with the rig in there. I would think you might be able to make something like pbmcauliffe's from a 25-30' camp trailer in decent shape, some time and skill (so it doesnt look like ass).

Seems there would be a market out there for this for the 4x4 crowd.... but no one is stepping up. WAY too much more money in the ATV crowd.

I took these a few weeks ago. This was his second time towing this configuration. He's going to build steps for the trailer exit soon. Trailer is a 26' trailer with 1' tongue extension. It's rated for 12k.
