much better choice for your use. May I suggest looking at the trux. Thats the tire I plan on running when this rebuild is done.

yes the TRUX MT's are the **** great road life/very soft compound/ i personally don't have any trail time on these tires but i have seen others run them with great success:awesomework:

I had a set last me about 60k and all i did was dd. I didnt like them in the snow but they did ok.

My problem is the 17" rim, because of the front rotor and calaper being so close to the stock rims now.

We do not want to go any higher than 35`s and no wider than 10.5", if we goto 12.5 it will stick out 2+ inches outside of the fender flares and also doing this will cause much more stress on the D44`s that we want to run for a VERY long time, at least till the 5 year warranty wares out.

I've had ssr's for 4 years and am about to change FINALLY! When the are new, not too bad. Ever since they wore down a little, they have no traction. On the street are fine, but for the trail i would definitely go a different option. I've blown out one sidewall and consider it lucky, a buddy blew 2 on one day at reiter and a total of 4 in about two years

I ran them for a few years, so did a close buddy of mine. Mine lasted around 40k, my buddy (mostly DD) around 25k!

They are WAY too expensive for what they do for you. If you look at them, about halfway through the tread there is a step to the lug. About halfway through the tread life, the tires start to really suck. The lower/last section of tread seems very hard and not sticky at all. Great in mediocre mud and snow, but terrible in the deep and nasty!

Go with the TRUXS, MTR, or BFG. I know the BFG has a 35/10.5...

You two folks have money. If you are into a 35 inch flavor look into the 35 inch Creepy Crawlers. They have been nothing but excellent for me.

If you really want to wheel, get serious. Krawler, Crawler, SX or MTR. Don't fiddle around with a weenie tire. The PNW is harder than 95% of the terrain I have been on (ie. all over the US.) If you want Real tires for real terrain, BIAS is most excellent. If you are looking for on road comfort with mild to hard wheeling, radial is your friend.

In the end it is your choice. After wheeling the PNW for a few years and destroying 2 sets of radials, I choose bias tires. I wheel every weeked, and my creepys get me there and back. My Raidal BFG (AT and MT) and the set of TSL radials did not.

I had them on my full size Ifs gmc. 37/12.5 on 17s 4wheel parts waranteed a set cuz of seperated belt, and being egg shaped. same thing happend to 2nd set. death wobble at 35-40mph. Buy toyos

I fawking hate my SSRs. I have a broken belt in one, and they havent had traction since they were new. Street or trail IMO. I aired them down to practically nothing out of desperation (just pulled the valve cores until I could stop the air with my finger) to get anywhere in the snow last winter on the trail, and they still sucked and had no sidewall flex at all. They still looked like they had 30 PSI in them, even trying to climb over stuff.

Probably operator failure though for the first half of their life. I knew jack **** about tire pressure and had no lockers and crap back when they were new when I first bought my truck, so I thought they sucked then too.

I ran the 35x10.5 SSR's on my stock Toyota. Used it as a DD like that for over a year, about 300 miles per week and after a year of use, they hardly showed much wear. I enjoyed them in the snow and in the mud. I never had a issue with the sidewalls or any of the other bad habits that the SSR's have been known to have..... Perhaps the 10.5 width SSR's are made a bit different than the others?
