Thats big enough you may be better off cutting, mitering and re-welding. You could do a two or 3 piece miter and tig weld it. It would be full strength and look pretty nice.
Hey Boonie,
I have a set of 6" Warn flares for a TJ that are in great shape that I'd sell cheep. Is this what your looking for ??
They will legally cover a 10" wide wheel. I had them installed for a season but didn't like them as they hid a lot of the tire from the drivers view.
The roll cage benefit of DOM or 4130 is not about the alloy. The benefit is in how both tubes are rolled at the mill. In either case the tubes are are extruded to a greater degree and at higher temperature. This produces a very fine grained piece of tubing. The fine grain makes the tube...
Your best battery is a big 'ol hurking lead acid battery. Unfortunately, they wont fit in most rigs.
The advent of the spiral cell /cinamon roll dry Optima type batterys is not because they are better in terms of draw down and reliability: they're not. It's because they can produce adequate...
Soooo...
Man, I hate to say this, but.........I hate wheel spacers.
You have got to come up with the right wheels so that you dont have to run spacers. For GOD sake, there has to be a better way...

Couple if thoughts:
Some vehicles (jeeps) come with a 35/55w headlamps. Your low beam is only 35 watts. Install Silverstar OEM lights from Schucks. Silverstars have a 55/65w bulb and are noticeable brighter. They're about $20 each.
Stock TJ fog lamps are amazing good for low speed...
4.10 ratio is a better match for your 33" tire size. You will not be geared too low, even with the auto.
Hate to say this but.....If your gonna' install gears go to 4.88's. You will soon want 35" tires. 33" to 35" is a huge jump in capability on the trails.
I dont tow a buggy but had camp trailers for years. One key thing you learn is that trailer tires often rot out and sidewalls crack long before they wear out. For that reason, I'd go the cheepest possible route.
Junk yards commonly have screaming deals on mounted used tires.
TJ axles (Rubi and non rubi) have adjustable steering stops on the knuckle. It is pretty common to install what ya' got and then adjust the stops to eliminate rubbing.
In my recollection, most front axles do not have this adjustable stop feature.
No, the rims are not heat treated after welding.
This is not a bad thing as heat treating aluminum after welding is virtually unheard of except on maybe production Motorcycles or airplane parts.
Trail ready will convert your existing aluminum wheels for 175.00 each.
It's a tricky process to do and they have it down to a science. The rim flange is machined away, flipped and "wire fed" back on. The bolt flange is TIG welded on along both the inside and outside surface.
They earn...
Interesting...thanks for the info.
I suspect not too many older Camaros, Mustangs or Chargers are gonna hit the scrap pile. But you can see how this might affect the aftermarket.
