Need rough estimate in this area's market

Wife and I are considering selling our rigs to buy a friends rig at a good price. Basically a 2.5L TJ rides MUCH better than mine but lacks power. My 4.0L has the power we need but rides rougher. What we can get is well a built TJ w/ 4.0L. Just looking for some help on what you guys think...

No More grey area if SB-5366 passes

It doesn't change anything for DNR land, does it for the other agencies?

Roll cage design for worst case scenario?

Planning for the "worst case scenario", I would be more concerned about how energy is absorbed and mass is released to minimize the impact on my body - than the rigidity of the cage. Doesn't do any good to build a cage that can survive a 100G since your body can't...

Reiter users pool: Do you have a discover pass?

Umm... that's not true at all. DNR employees can still write tickets. They have been lax on enforcement of this because they chose to EDUCATE before handing out pieces of paper. Come either 12/1 or 1/1 (I can't remember which) it's hammer down on the passes.

Reiter users pool: Do you have a discover pass?

No, I just work with them and have 3 vehicles that go out on state land for fun or work, and a 4th used less often which depending on how the year goes may not be getting a pass. At least I don't work for the government and have to buy a pass for my personal vehicles.

Reiter users pool: Do you have a discover pass?

Yes to two... on my way to FOUR.

    Which pass if any?

Well, except for the state parks now saying even that isn't enough and wanting something like half of what the DNR and WDFW are currently getting. :eeek::jerkit::rolleyes:

My experience getting ORV Tabs and Plates

I volunteer quite a bit out there, usually when it's not summer. I'm still just buying a pass, arranging work parties in advance or organizing a regular monthly party is too much of a PITA to deal with. That and forest watch (most of my time now) doesn't count anyway. By the time I drive out...

My experience getting ORV Tabs and Plates

For those "approved" hours to count, they must advertise the work party to the general public for some time period prior to the work party day. You just can't through up an ad-hoc work party and have the hours count. Forest Watch doesn't count either - though it should. At least this is...

My experience getting ORV Tabs and Plates

I wouldn't be hinging your plate and not displaying it. RCW 46.16.240 clearly states how a plate must be displayed. You might sneak your way out of paying for the DP by hinging it, but a LEO can nail you on that RCW regardless of where you are riding (if you have street plates for it). The...

My experience getting ORV Tabs and Plates

Sorry, when I say forest service road, I use it as a generic term, not necessarily national forest. I'll call a gravel road on DNR land a forest service road.

My experience getting ORV Tabs and Plates

On a trail, it would be a non issue. But many trails out there cross forest service roads that prohibit ORVs. Lets say you cross that road or drive down it for really short bit to reach the connector trail and a LEO decides to pull you over for driving an ORV on the road. Ready to defend...

My experience getting ORV Tabs and Plates

Exactly, as written, having an ORV tab on a street registered vehicle doesn't cleanly exempt your from the DP. There is no case law as of yet that I have heard of to set any precedence in either direction So, lets say you get that ticket and fight it in the lower level court. 9 times out of...

My experience getting ORV Tabs and Plates

Their FAQ does: A street licensed vehicle isn't REQUIRED to display an ORV tab. A street licensed dual sport or 4WD is required to display a discover pass. I see dual tagging a vehicle as a grey area that will be interesting to see if it gets tested by LEOs. You know the RCW or WAC off hand...

My experience getting ORV Tabs and Plates

I remember that thread... but I can also just imagine you getting hassled over having a street licensed rig without a discover pass even though it's also got an ORV tag. It'll be interesting to hear if you have any run ins.

My experience getting ORV Tabs and Plates

What is the advantage to dual registration? Your street licensed rig as an ORV tag... your on a public road, wonder how much hassle you might get since ORV's aren't allowed on streets. You'r ORV tagged street licensed rig is on state land, you don't have the discover pass, you might get a...

Why non-motorized wins and we get nothing. Hint: it ain't their fault.

Well continue living in your ignorance then. 1) Reiter is not likely to open again to 4x4 users. 2) IF it does re-open for 4x4 users, it won't stay open long. I'll just come back later and give you the "I told you so", I'll give up trying to tell you guys that you are on the wrong path. You...

Why non-motorized wins and we get nothing. Hint: it ain't their fault.

Water isn't really the issue, where the water is going is. The original trails, save for a couple water crossings, didn't have major issues that I can recall. Most of it was contained and not dumping silt in to streams. Again, this depends a LOT on what the land manager calls a problem. Why...

Why non-motorized wins and we get nothing. Hint: it ain't their fault.

I was out there quite a bit back when I started pointing that out. I could see that it was NEVER going to last. I ended up moving away about the time the **** hit the fan there, I was there long enough to catch some of the splatter. The rules and regulations have always been there, just not...
