    12v Cummins Problems

Go look anyway. IIRC 2nd gen trucks got an 80 if it had a manual transmission and it was an option for auto trucks If it was ordered that way. Also, when I pulled mine apart the ring gear had cracks in the valleys between all the remaining teeth. If you pull the cover and inspect the ring...

    12v Cummins Problems

Waking up the Cummins is easy. Keeping the transmission alive behind it, not so much. At least you have a Dana 80 center and 4:10s. I managed to rip three teeth off my Dana 70 ring gear. Still made it home.

    Goatbuilt JHF buggy build

What is that! A rock buggy for ANTS? How do you expect to perform magnificent feats if you can't even fit a basket ball under the belly of the frame? Your rig is going to have to be at least... three times taller than that.

    Helmet tech.

They wouldn't let my family across unless we took them off. :booo: :fawkdancesmiley: Thanks for the offer Jaydog. I stopped by my dad's place yesterday and it turns out he has a selection of half helmets. That and our skulls are strikingly similar in shape and size so I am covered in that...

    Helmet tech.

It does look like a sweet helmet. Looking through various websites it looks like what I'd like is a half helmet. I can get away with one of those for now. If I need a full face one I can pick it up later. This would be for when I'm out wheelin and know I'm gonna get into the ****, as well as...

    Helmet tech.

I am taking the mommy wagon racing at the end of the month. They are requiring me to wear a "bitch hat". What do you guys wear and recommend. It must be DOT approved. Not really wanting a full face helmet. Thanks.

    Dana 44 outer interchangeability.

I thought about doing that purely for ease of adjustment. Doing that will not gain me enough clearance to get the bells through between the C and the knuckle. Its not just the actual stop boss. The whole casting is thicker in this area between the two ball joints. I did score Ford spindles...

    Dana 44 outer interchangeability.

Thats just the thing though. Two years on domestic 19 spline outers and all four shafts are fine. I've driven out of multiple flops, ripped the threads (1.25 shank) out of a suspension link and hopped the rig up and down on the grippy red rock of Utah. My 44 has been holding up fine through...

    Dana 44 outer interchangeability.

No smartassery taken. :awesomework: I've seen that one. Notice they are using stock knuckles. Those knuckles only have one steering stop on the backside. Reid knuckles have steering stops cast in both sides. This prevents the CV ball from being installed that way. The only reason I wanted...

    Dana 44 outer interchangeability.

The spindle holes in the Ford knuckles are large enough that the CV bell and boot will pass through them. This makes installing them a breeze. The Chevy knuckle hole is too small. So.... With the Chevy knuckle you must remove the knuckle and insert the inner shaft. Then you heat the RCV...

    Dana 44 outer interchangeability.

The RCV axle kits for the traditional spindle 44 are 30 spline outers. The outers and CVs are made from 300M material. There is more going than "they just broke" and I am still talking to RCV about it. By "brake backing plates" I meant the part that bolts on over the spindle studs and holds...

    Dana 44 outer interchangeability.

I own the most polished turd of a HP44 ever. The axle is built around Chevy knuckles and six bolt spindles with 5-5.5 Chevy hubs. I run Reid Chevy/Waggy knuckles and RCV shafts for traditional spindle. I am switching to Reid Ford style knuckles for the larger spindle hole diameter. I know...

ZJ auto has only 1st gear

There is a speed sensor on the bottom of the transmission nearer the tail housing. On 96-98 ZJs if you break this off it will stay in 1st gear. The sensor is cheap and takes all of 60 seconds to replace.

    ARB leaking air into axle

:eeek: just saying. Like I said, there seem to be those with the nack for installing them so that they function with some kind of reliability. I've just seen too many problems with them out wheelin. When I bought the axles for my smaller ZJ I was excited and nervous about the ARB in the...

    ARB leaking air into axle

Welcome to having an ARB locker. Mine leaks in the axle and at the compressor. I'll have my eye out for a 27 spline Detroit at the swap meet this weekend. Though there are some isolated cases of reliability I have found an ARB to be as reliable as a welded Dana 35 on 36 inch tires. The...
