Throwing in the towel - my MarsFab buggy build

Loving this! I'd love to have a simple buggy like that!

Metalcloak lift on 2 door JK

Recently helped a friend install a Metalcloak 3.5" Gamechanger with the short arms with Rocksport shocks. Arms are adjusted to Metalcloak specs. Was on a trip to Hot Springs and on climbs the front end unloads and picks a tire. Tried to keep crawling and it just kept picking it up even higher...

    Front axle truss opinion

I'll be starting a build this winter on a new front axle for the TJ. I've got a list of what I know I want but I'm down to trusses. First thought was Artec but TNT has one as well. The TNT has the option to adjust the coil buckets for 1.5" stretch. Artec doesn't but I was planning to modify...

    Line Locks

I've got a TJ with the 8.8 and the e-brake has always been terrible even when properly adjusted. Last time I had the shafts out I just took off all the e-brake hardware and threw it away. That being said, I'd like to have something when on the trails. Anyone using a line lock for an e-brake?

    14 bolt vs Sterling 10.5

No 14 bolt front for me. I can’t recall the company but I’ve seen new Ford unit bearings drilled for the 8x6.5 but if they went out of business or stopped doing it then I’d have to find a place to have it done.

    14 bolt vs Sterling 10.5

Plans are gears and lockers for both front/rear. They’ll all get new brakes (pretty sure the Superduty they came out of caught fire). Both of the rear axles are in similar condition. trying to stay as budget friendly as you can when building tons and putting them under a Jeep.

    14 bolt vs Sterling 10.5

The 14 bolt is a late model ribbed housing but no disc brakes. My friends already on tons are running 8x6.5 bolt pattern so if I needed to borrow a wheel/tire I’d have options.

    14 bolt vs Sterling 10.5

So I’m working on a set of tons for my Jeep TJ. I bought a pair of Superduty axles that were for sale on here. I also have a 14 bolt. I like the 8x6.5 bolt pattern compared to the 8x170 Ford pattern. Besides that, which one would be better? I’ve helped a friend build a 14 bolt so I’m fairly...

    Super Duty 60 knuckles

Is that the ball joint eliminator kit? How do you like it?

    Super Duty 60 knuckles

It will be 90-95% trail rig like it is right now. I’d still like to drive it on the road occasionally though. Is the weld on stronger? Obviously it depends on how it is welded though.

    Super Duty 60 knuckles

I’m in the process of building a Super Duty 60. I’m torn between the Artec brackets or having the knuckles machined for high steer arms. Opinions? Link to each: https://www.artecindustries.com/SD_Xover_HSarms_Weld_on...

    Fuel Cells

The Motobilt 15 gallon looks nice. Would y’all recommend putting some rubber bushings on each bolt or just hard mount it to the floor?

    Fuel Cells

For a few years now I've just been running my stock TJ gas tank behind my front seats. I'm considering changing the cage up to be able to add a Corbeau bench seat and therefore I'd need a fuel cell. What's a good option? Wanting to keep it around 15 gallons if possible, no less than 10...

    Super swamper measurements

In my experience all Swampers run really small. My 36” TSLs measure out to what most 35s measure out to.

    Detroit locker question

Just to close this out I did some digging today and they are 5/16-18 and 1.5” length. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Detroit locker question

Does anyone know the length and thread size for the bolts that hold the Detroit together for a Ford 8.8? I’ve searched online and talked to Eaton and can’t find it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Dumb engineer!!

I've often wondered this about fuel pumps. My wife's CRV has an access panel for the fuel pump. My truck and the Jeep both do not. Just doesn't make any sense.

    Super 8.8 question

Well, that’s where it is leaking from. If it was overfilled I’m guessing it just leaked from there. Since it isn’t a DD it sits most of the time so it never had a chance to blow oil out of the breather. Not sure why it wouldn’t leak on both sides though. But I’ve replaced this bearing/seal 2...

    Super 8.8 question

Well it sat for 24 hours on jack stands and it’s completely dry. No oil whatsoever. Checked the breather tube and it is clear and so is the nipple on the axle tube. I lowered the jack stand on the passenger side after running it some more so that the oil is going toward that side. Gonna check...

    Super 8.8 question

Got the rear on some jack stands and got the tire off, brakes off, and the well oil saturated e-brake shoes off. Got it all cleaned up and let it run in drive a few minutes to get the gear oil moving. No apparent wobble in the axle shaft so I don’t think the shaft is bent. Sent from my iPhone...
